"Alright, let's lay down the rules. First, you play along with everything I say. If I tell people you're my sister or whatever, you have to play along for the whole week" he starts and I roll my eyes. Why did I agree to this?
"Second, you do whatever I ask you that is not as embarrassing as your picture. I'll make the rest of the rules as we go along but so far, that's it- oh wait, and you sit in my table" he added and I stop in my tracks. We were in the cafeteria already and I was carrying two trays. His and mine. Sarah was in another city at the moment, perks of having rich parents who allow you to be absent for the day. I'm jealous.
"But I don't want to sit in your table and you know exactly why" I frown, I hate this blackmail. This is not fair. He smirked.
"Third rule, if you don't comply with what I ask or the rules, I'm showing everybody that picture. Including JD" he threatened, looking completely serious. My mouth fell agape but I quickly close it to form a frown whilst I turn to look at their table. It's the best table in the whole cafeteria since it's in the corner with glass windows so it gives you a beautiful view without giving you the wind and everything from the outside.
Also, it's a book for God's sake. Life is not fair and this is school is not fair.
"I loathe you" I hiss at him causing him to break out into a smile before we continue walking to the heavenly table.
"I love you too" he winks before we arrive at the table. I could feel my skin prick as I break into a cold sweat. Anxiety. I hate it. I focus on the two trays in my hands as I scan the table. Mandy of the Swim Team was beside Elton of the Volleyball Team. Oddly enough, Serena of the Cheer squad was nearly on top of the one and only, JD's lap. I turn confused to Nathan who was eyeing the same thing I was.
"Serena, seems like you replaced me already" he seemingly jokes. I scan the table and place the trays on the table. Serena looks away from JD (Girl, I know the struggle), and glances at Nathan before her eyes set on me.
"You replaced me too... But with her? Really?" She scoffs before flipping her hair and going back to JD, who didn't seem to care if there was a bimbo on his lap or not. Ouch. Really? Bitch, I really will grab this tray and smack it on your cake of a face.
"He didn't replace you, we're not-"
"I want you guys to meet my new girlfriend, Natalie Telefos" Nathan interrupted me with a louder voice and I stare agape at him. I start to protest but remember the rules and the consequences before putting two in two together. He set me up, he knew exactly what he was doing. I will murder this bastard.
"What kind of last name is Telefos?" Mandy snorted with her bimbo minions and I glared at her.
"The last name you'll hear if you don't shut the hell up" I say sweetly catching the attention of the whole table as they stare at me surprised. Including Nathan. After a few seconds, JD burst out laughing and eventually everyone but Mandy and her minions were laughing. I looked at them exasperatedly, they were so supposed to be pissed and forced Nathan to get rid of me like some rag doll because that's what popular people do.
"I like her, Nate. Feisty" he tells Nathan like I'm not there but I still feel the heat crawl up my face at his comment. I realize, I'm the only one standing up so I look around awkwardly.
"Come sit beside me, kitten" JD says, pushing Serena away. She looked so offended, I nearly laughed aloud. I was going to sit beside JD. Holy crap. My palms started sweating and my heart raced.
"Actually, she's sitting beside me. Right babe?" Nathan pops my bubble and I bite my tongue so I wouldn't say anything whilst I made my way beside Nathan. Did I mention I hate Nathan? If I did, let me say it again. I hate Nathan Hendley. As I take a stiff seat beside Nate, he hooks his arm around my shoulders with JD opposite of me. What are you trying to do Nathan William Hendley?
I can see Serena eye me up and down before I look down at my outfit. Unlike hers, which consisted of a lot of light coloured clothes and a lace jacket. I was wearing black skinny jeans, a gray band tee and my Green grunge based jacket.
I see Nate's hand approach my fries before I smack his hand away.
"You have your own, diptard" I glare at him. Take my dignity and my pride but you don't take my food. Never my food. And I'm sure Nate knows that by my glare as he holds up his arms in mock surrender. I can hear JD's laughter and my heart flutters knowing I caused his happiness. I really hope he won't recognize my voice. It would be so much better if he weren't seated opposite of me and in earshot.
Honestly, I really hate you Nathan Hendley.
