chapter 48: confession

Ashley's pov:

As we arrive home, Ace's hand wrapped around my waist, I see Marie preparing for supper.
My mind goes through memory lane as I remember the events I encountered with her this morning.
I go over to the sink to wash my hands, leaving Ace to go sit in his chair.
Aliba comes by my side, and for a second I could have thought it was Ace.
His bottom lip which used to be swollen before, is not so swollen anymore, making it hard for me to tell who is who between Ace and Aliba.
"I'm coming with you", he suddenly said, almost like a whisper so that people don't hear.
"What?", I ask
"You don't even know the location of where you are supposed to go, so you need me Bells, cause I know that you can't exactly ask Ace for help either", he utters with confidence.

Well, he isn't wrong.

I walk away from him without confirming whether he should come with me or not, but judging by the sneakish smirk on his face, he already knew the answer.

We sit in the table for a while before Marie dishes up for us.

I see Lea and Cruise coming from their bedroom, holding hands.
I guess their thing is really serious.
I haven't talked to Lea for a while, which is making me kinda sad cause the main reason she's here in the first place, is for me.
My eyes then move to Viper, who was viciously staring at Aliba as if he was observing each and every move of his.
And as if things couldn't get any better, he came, Zayn.

He was staring at me, I could see him from the corner of my eye, but I cared less.
"You didn't tell me we would have a group of friends here today", I said.
"I didn't know I was supposed to", Ace said.
"Of course. The person who pretended to be my friend for years is here, I didn't even get a call of warning", I say
"I don't want to argue Ash", Ace said nonchalantly
"Ace I..", I was about to say, but Aliba interrupted me.
"Bells and I have to go somewhere tomorrow. So if you don't mind Ace..", Aliba was about to continue but Ace also cutted him in.
"Bells?", he scoffed, "-ohh and I mind", he added.
"I believe that our mom is alive", he said, causing all our attention to drift from our food to him.
I could see Ace from here, trying to hold back his tears.
"-and I need Ashley to figure this out", Aliba adds.

Why the hell did he just say that?

"This is bullshit", Ace said, suddenly slamming his fist on the table.

Cruise and Zayn quickly stood up from their sits, walking up to Ace to calm him down, but he couldnt be pacified.

"Our mother is still alive Ace, I don't know for sure but...", Aliba was about to say, but Ace interrupted him
"So you are assuming?", Ace yelled.
"My assumptions are never wrong", Aliba responded.
"So I should trust what? Your stupid assumptions?", Ace scoffed

A dialogue was formed between the two brothers, as the rest of us kept our mouths shut.

"Our mother could be out there Ace"
"Our mother is dead"
"You don't care, do you?"
"I don't care? Me? You are the one who doesn't care"
"And something tells me that you have also thought about our mom being out there, alive, but you are just too weak to go look for one of your own"
"Our mom was one of the most powerful people in the mafia. If she wanted to see us, to talk to us, she would have done so ages ago. She is gone, dead"
"You aren't so sure"
"We had proof and facts"
"Proof and facts that could have been tampered with"
"Stop this Aliba"
"No! You stop this Ace. This is our mother we are talking about"
"Our mom is DEAD! and if she's alive out there, then I will kill her Aliba. You know why? Because I will never be able to love her, I won't be able to respect the person, a woman, the so called mother who left two kids feeling helpless and crying all night. Wherever she is, whoever she's with, I will find her and kill her, because I can and I know that I will enjoy seeing the whole room covered with blood, her blood", Ace said in a deep voice, scaring me from within.
