THE HUMID FOREST air hung thick around the dojang as Sensei Kim's students gathered for the day's training. The group from Venom Fang stood to the side, exchanging quiet remarks. Training had been relentless lately, pushing even the strongest fighters to their limits. But none pushed themselves harder than Satomi.
"Looks like she's out to break some records today," Fujio muttered, watching Satomi as she adjusted the weighted vest she'd strapped to her torso.
Murayama folded his arms, his brow furrowed as he studied her. "She's been pushing herself too hard," he said, mostly to himself.
"Too hard?" Genji scoffed. "This is Satomi we're talking about. She thrives on hard."
Murayama didn't respond, his eyes lingering on her. She had barely spoken since the incident with Hitomi (Another cut out part, but Satomi almost broke Hitomi's arm during training after she found out that Hitomi was spreading rumors about her back in Japan). Whatever was going on in her head, she wasn't sharing it with anyone, and that worried him more than he wanted to admit.
Jae-sung, standing off to the side, observed the interaction. His face remained calm, but he noted Murayama's growing concern. It irked him, though he couldn't quite explain why.
Sensei Kim clapped her hands sharply, signaling the start of the day's exercises. "We begin with endurance training," she announced. "Push your limits. Prove your strength."
Satomi didn't need the encouragement. She jumped into the drills with unrelenting focus, her movements sharp and precise. Weighted push-ups, explosive jumps, sprints—she powered through each exercise with a determination that bordered on reckless.
Murayama shook his head. "She's going to hurt herself if she keeps this up."
"She's fine," Genji said. "It's Satomi. She doesn't know how to quit."
But Murayama wasn't so sure.

The final exercise was a grueling obstacle course that tested every muscle and ounce of endurance the students had left. The Venom Fang students watched as Sensei Kim's students demonstrated the course—a series of climbing ropes, swinging bars, and wooden platforms set at dizzying heights.
