Xia leaned on the bathroom door, hand splayed on her chest.

The night had gone on without incident so far and somehow she had successfully managed to avoid Jisung for most of it.

From the moment she had stepped foot in that lounge, Jisung had looked up at the girl — startled and anxious — ready to jump up and greet her, wiping his sweaty palms on his jeans.

In her mind he had solely been waiting for her. Finally tracked her down and now... who knows what? But it wasn't going to be anything good.

That's why he was there: to ruin a perfectly good night.

As consequence, the girl stayed right by Sungchan's side for the rest of the night, taking Chenle's advice to heart.

The plan had worked up until her friend decided to take the stage for a fun little duet with Renjun, leaving Xia alone and defenseless.

Already feeling Jisung's eyes on her she fled to the bathroom in hopes of finding some solace.

It was quiet inside the small room, the loud music and obnoxious drunk singing that could be heard in the background created a stark contrast to the silence that suffocated the space.

Xia closed her eyes, focusing on each drip of water that escaped the faucet and landed on the porcelain sink. The sound reverberated against the marble floor.

Once calm she took a couple steps towards the mirror. Nothing seemed out of place. Her makeup was still intact. Her black dress wasn't wrinkled or riding up. None of her jewelry was missing or falling off.

Even her stiletto boots weren't bothering her feet, which was usually the case when this time of night rolled around.

Despite all that something felt very off with Xia. She was uneasy and it wasn't very difficult to figure out why.

She deliberated for a moment if she should message Chenle to pick her up. It was late enough that calling it a night wouldn't be unreasonable. But before she could decide she heard the song end outside in the lounge.

A sudden feeling of frustration washed over her.

Why am I getting so worked up over a guy? She thought. Why am I letting him ruin my night?

She had every right to be there as much as Jisung did, so why was she hiding in the bathroom?

Determined, Xia fixed her hair, gathered up as much confidence as she could muster, and walked back into the lounge.

In all honesty, she half-expected him to be waiting for her outside the bathroom. In which case, she would have walked past him with her head held high.

He wasn't there.

Before she could feel any sense of relief though, the girl rounded the corner only to almost run into the dreaded man as he was heading towards the small bar.

Eyes wide, she finally took in his appearance: black slacks with a loose dark blue button down tucked in at the front. The shirt, covered in white dots, looked like a piece of the night sky. The top couple buttons were undone revealing a bit of the smooth skin on his chest.

Despite the awkward smile on his face, Jisung might be the most attractive person there. Well, to Xia at least.

Why is he so handsome? She lamented.

"Are you okay?" He asked, concern laced in his tone.

The girl didn't say anything, just nodded and made a quick escape to one of the couches in the corner of the room.

Jisung's eyes followed her figure as she left. A rush of determination came to him as he walked up to the bar and asked for two glasses instead of one.

Today is day one of making you mine, Liang Xia. He thought. Confidence being both a gift and a curse. Even if it takes a lifetime.

Never really learning her lesson, Xia started to relax while settling into her new spot. She gazed around the room to see what everyone else was doing.

She became so engrossed with Sungchan and Renjun's interaction, smiling and laughing with one another, that she didn't notice the man making his way towards her.

It was only when he cleared his throat that he was able to capture her attention.

"Can I sit?" Jisung asked innocently, holding out a bottle of wine and two glasses like a peace offering.

His pleading dark brown eyes almost sold her but her resolve didn't crumble so easily. She stood up ready to leave him again without a second glance.

"Xia wait!" The man rushed to set the items in his hands on the table, ready to chase after her. "I want to apologize."

This caught her off guard, coming to a halt. Hesitantly she turned back to face him.

Not only was his voice sincere but so was the expression on his face.

She thought about it for a moment before ultimately taking a seat, leaving plenty of space for him to sit down. He did so cautiously, never taking his eyes off of her.

As if she would bolt or disappear if he looked away.

"Go on," Xia said, intrigued by where this conversation could lead.
