***AUDREY’S POV***
The sun took too long to set in my opinion. I waited and waited, glancing at it every second to see if it had set completely. It hadn’t. Ethan chuckled as he saw me. He sat next to me on the sofa in the living room and pretended to watch Sonny With a Chance while actually he was just looking at me.
“Watched clocks just go slower,” he told me as the sun set completely.
“That wasn’t a clock Ethan,” I replied as I changed back to a human.
He was slightly amazed by the quick transformation. “Well, before there were clocks like we have today, that actually DID count as the only clock in the entire world.”
“Whatever.”
I got up and walked to the kitchen. I sat down and waited, listening. One minute, less maybe, then the TV turned off and he walked into the kitchen. I smiled at him and turned around. He sat down next to me. I decided to make dinner and got up.
I opened the freezer and glanced inside. “You hungry?”
“Yes,” he answered.
“Hold on,” I told him.
I walked up the stairs and knocked on Darcy’s door.
“Come in!” she shouted.
I opened the door and went in. I almost stumbled back through the door when I saw her room. Strong arms caught me and held me back up again.I looked up at the face and Ethan smiled down at me. We went back into the room together and tried not to burst out laughing as Darcy continued sketching her design.
***DARCY’S POV***
After Ethan left the room with Audrey in his arms as a fox, I sighed and shook my head. I left her closet and sat down on her desk. I looked around the room, carefully avoiding Nick’s eyes. I felt his gaze burning a hole in my shoulder, but still didn’t look at him.
Her bed creaked and I looked at it. Nick stretched out on it and folded his hands behind his head. He stared at the ceiling. I watched him and asked myself why in the world I would kiss him. I had reasons, but they were unknown for me at the time.
We waited half an hour, thinking of our own things and also listening for the roar of a car engine starting. When it didn’t, I sighed, got up and walked downstairs. I peeked around the corner into the living room and sure enough, there they were.
“I love you,” Ethan told her.
She just ran to him, gave him puppy dog eyes when he flinched and started licking him. I didn’t know the language of fox but I could understand easily that she loved him too. This just made my day that much worse. I kissed a boy I didn’t (or maybe do) like, was forced to run after my sister when she took the worst moment to change, had school today, didn’t get to beat Giselle up (she now only resides in the company of teachers) and just saw my sister and an obnoxious guy declare their love for each other.
I went back up the stairs and into my room. I grabbed my iPad and turned it on. While I checked my inbox and see if anyone uploaded on Wattpad, Nick sauntered into my room. I ignored him while I read the new chapter of A Man Can Change. That story is amazing. I’ve been trying to persuade Audrey into reading some of it, but she won’t budge. She prefers the Dragon of Legend stories.
Nick went into my closet and through the open door I could see him in my mirror. He was checking out my clothes and when he held a tank top in front of his chest and asked himself how someone could fit in that, the idea hit me. This would make my day a WHOLE lot better.
I shut my laptop and walked to my closet where I leaned against the door frame.
“Having fun?” I asked.
