12 years later.

Raina Resident,
Rajasthan

Viraj Shikhawat stormed into the house like a tornado, his school bag swinging wildly on his shoulder, his teenage face lit up with smug triumph. He had finally defeated his arch-nemesis, Aman, in a debate competition, and he had a shiny gold medal to prove it. This was headline news, and he just had to let his mom know immediately. After all, it was his mom who helped him prepare for this competition.

"Mom! MOM! Guess what happened—" Viraj yelled as he thundered up the stairs. Without a moment's hesitation, he pushed open the door to his parents' room.

BIG MISTAKE ! HUGE! 😶

Viraj froze in his tracks, his brain struggling to process what his eyes were witnessing. There were his parents... his parents... entangled in a way that no child should EVER see. His parents, Rajveer and Naina, were scrambling under the sheets, looking equally horrified. His mother had gasped in horror, yanking the blanket up to her chin, while his father, mid-action, looked like he had been hit by a truck.

"VIRAJ, WHAT—" Rajveer tried to say, but the damage was done.

"OH MY GOD! WHAT THE—" Viraj screamed at the top of his lungs.

"THAT'S WHY I ALWAYS TELL YOU TO KNOCK FIRST!" Rajveer yelled, trying and failing to cover both himself and Naina at the same time.

"I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING! I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING!" Viraj yelled, his hands covering his eyes as he stumbled backward like he'd just seen a ghost. Dropping his medal on the floor like it was cursed, he turned and bolted out of the room like his life depended on it, slamming the door shut behind him.

Rajveer groaned, dropping his head into his hands. "Well, that's going to require years of therapy."

Naina, still clutching the bedsheet tightly around herself, shot a furious glare at Rajveer. "Why wasn't the door locked?! Rajveer, how could you be so desperate that you forgot we have three kids now?"

Rajveer threw his hands in the air defensively. "I'm sorry, okay?! The kids were supposed to be at school right now. How was I supposed to know that Viraj would return early and barge in like the police on a raid?!"

Naina groaned, burying her face in her free hand. "He didn't just barge in, Rajveer. He screamed. Do you know how traumatized he must be right now?!"

Rajveer rubbed the back of his neck, looking sheepish. "I mean... at least he didn't see anything? I... I covered you up in time."

Naina's glare intensified. "Congratulations, officer. Truly heroic. I'll make sure to engrave that on your tombstone after I kill you."

Rajveer winced, holding his hands up in surrender. "Alright, alright! My bad! I'll talk to him—"

"You think you can fix this with one chat?!" Naina snapped, her voice rising. "Our 12-year-old son is already painfully shy. Now, he's probably traumatized for life! He won't speak to us or even look at us again!"

Rajveer sighed dramatically, flopping back against the headboard. "Maybe we should've stuck with cats instead of kids."

Naina grabbed a pillow and smacked him square in the face. "Not helping, genius!"
