Beeping is the only sound that could be heard. And a rearing pain coming from his arm. Mikey groaned as he stirred awake, his blue eyes adjusting to the dark. He found himself laying on a comfy bed with his arm in bandages, a heart beat machine next to him and a few tubes going into his arm, although it was not just his machine he heard beeping. He turned his heavy head and spotted Donnie without his masks fast asleep with his arm also in bandages, and tubes with a heart beat machine. Everything around them was dark, it is clear they are inside the lab during night time. Just then splinter walks into the room, he gasped upon seeing Mikey awake and quickly lit a candle, "Michelangelo.. my son... you're awake.." he rushed over and felt his son's cheek as though it was a dream, "papa...?" He groaned, Splinter lifted some water to Mikey's mouth and let him drink. "You and your brother have been unconscious for an over a day now. Me and your brothers were begging to get worried..." that caught Mikey's attention, "Leo and Raph are here? They made it..?" Mikey says softly, his father nodded with a smile.

Donnie could be heard waking up suddenly. After a little while of letting him slowly wake up and adjust to his pain Splinter repeated what he had said to Mikey. Soon enough the bandages had to come off and Mikey and Donnie cringed. Not only at the crude smell but also the sight, it was not just their skin missing but parts of their rotting muscle as well, maggots squirming around, "I've placed maggots there to help rid of dead tissue and infection as much as I can." Splinter explained. They both nod and thanked him. They cleaned up their arms and lets their arm breathe.

In the morning Raph and Leo were overwhelmed by the news of their brother's awakening and didn't leave their side for the whole day. They lectured their younger brothers about their carelessness and selfishness in order to save Leo and Raph. The two younger brothers just rolled their eyes with a smile, grateful to be home.

During the oncoming months Donnie had managed to create a new invention, a sort of second skin to go over their arms and secure it, ensuring muscle movement is normal. Expect the arm would just be skinnier. Weaker and more frail but non the less, motors well. Leo's arm is stitched up from when he had punched the glass, it was a deep cut and almost reached the bone, thankfully it didn't but Leo cannot help but show off his cool new scar to everyone he knows and see's. Raph suffered a concussion for some time but quickly healed. He himself has a few small scars scattered over his body which he happily tells the story about to Casey to rub it in his face how much cooler he was.
And Donnie, he felt embarrassed to be seen with his weak, frail arm. Scared of what April will think. But he couldn't hide it forever and she soon found out, pampering all the turtles with sorrow and even ordering them all a pizza each.

All was well.

The kraang was gone.

The shredder was gone.

It felt too good to be true. But thankfully.... It is true.

The end
