Shivers (Chap 26)

Amaya pov:

The doorbell rang half way through as Milly was gushing over Luke while Max was feeding him.

I smiled amused as they actually look like a mini cute family. Hopefully, that can be me one day.

Typical, since everyone came over to Dexter's place. Everyone came over after Dexter left partly out of boredom but also this was the only hope for us.

I admit, I was scared when I found out that Dexter went alone. Not that he wasn't strong enough or anything but I wanted to check up on him.

Max and Celean were heading already heading over when Milly and I wanted to tag along. Then Angelo came with Celean since he was bored as well.

Looks like the whole gang is here, waiting for Dexter.

I wonder how's he doing though, he looks somewhat distraught and I tilt my head, confused.

What exactly happened?

"Daddy's home," Luke calls out, with food all over his mouth.

Speak of the devil. And now that Luke said that, Usher's song, Daddy's home mentally played in my mind.

Dexter was still wearing his motorbike helmet and he turned around to us confused.

"What are you guys doing here?"

"Having a party at your place and for moral support for you," Celean mumbles with crackers in his mouth.

He took off his helmet and I squint my eyes suspiciously as I notice that he started to fiddle with the ends of his leather jacket.

He is handsome as always but has swollen eyes and sniffled slightly, brushing a hand through his hair and rubbing the back of his neck.

"What did he say?" Max froze once seeing Dexter's face and gave the baby food to Milly while he approaches him.

"It's fine, Max. I'll tell you later," he swatts his hand but Max gently nudges him into the kitchen and asks him about it privately.

Hmm, well I'll probably find out later and he probably needs to talk to Max since they known each other for the longest.

I try to shake off the small sting though that he doesn't want to tell me first. I'm just being paranoid and I hate being petty.

I glower at them two but leaned back on the couch where Celean and Angelo are arguing about who won UNO.

After a while, Max and Dexter come out before Deter grabs Luke and wipes his mouth before kissing his cheek.

"Can you stay over at Max's today, little man?" he brushes Lukes hair out of his face gently.

"Why, daddy? I wanna be with you," Luke looks up at him with puppy dog eyes like I taught him and I smother a proud smile.

"Daddy just needs some time for himself. But you'll be with Celean and Max. They'll take care of you,"

"Don't worry, buddy. We'll look after you and get to watch movies all night," Celean shoots him a grin while Luke smiles.
