Purple (Chap 21)

Amaya pov:

Coming back was a pain and a blessing after I went and visited my parents.

They kept on stuffing my face with food and kept on lecturing me how marrying young was a good thing.

Pffttt please. Like I would ever marry at all. I think they were probably scared cause last year their neighbour's daughter was the same age as me and she passed away without getting married to her fiancé.

Now my parents are scared the same thing is gonna happen to me and want me to try and live a long life.

They're sweet but a little crazy sometimes, I guess that is because both of them are scientists. Crazy scientists I like to tease them by.

Anyways, right now though, should I look at the answer sheet while Dexter isn't looking or should I try to use my brain?

Yep, the answer sheet every time.

I focus my eyes at him, while he has his head turned towards his textbook and slowly inch by inch move closer.

I glance at the answer sheet right beside him and squint my eyes before two amused grey eyes stop in my line of sight.

"Damn it! I was so close," I mutter.

"You're never gonna learn by the answer sheet, sweetheart," he grins and pokes my cheek as I shoot him a glare.

"Can't I have one peek? Just a small one,"

"Nope, and don't even think about doing those puppy dog eyes at me, I'm temporarily blind,"

I scowled at him and he tries to smother his smug smile. Arrogant jerk!!

"Plus, I like to see you when you are studying or work hard. It's kinda attractive and you're even more pretty when you're smart," he laughs as I try to poke a pencil in his arm.

"Stop saying sappy nonsense all the time. Who even says that in real life?"

"Me. I do. And don't lie, you love it when I say those things,"

"You're asking for it now!!" I look around so that nobody is looking and then I lunge at him, trying to snatch the answer sheet in his hand.

He dodges and hooks my leg under his so I end up falling onto his lap, as his teasing eyes look down on me.

"I guess girls really do end up falling for me,"

"You're such a jackass!!" I huffed, leaning back, avoiding his gaze.

"You know you're calling me a jackass a lot considering that I'm helping you out here. And I like it when you get something right and show me that smug proud smile,"

"So..? What's your point?" I furrowed my brow

"I want compensation for all the name calling," he leans forwards and softly bumps his nose with mine.

"No, did you forget our deal?" I shook my head, irritated.

"What deal? I'm doing it because you have a crush on me and I'm taking pity on you."

This idiots gone and done it.

"How can you say that you stupid idiott!" I lunged for him again but this time he stood up and pushed me back down in my chair.

He rested each arm over the side of the armrest and I glanced away because of his piercing grey eyes, getting a strange sense of deja vu.

I smelt his cologne and subtle smell of cigarettes as I see the stupid grin on his face from the side of my vision.
