Spider (Chap 15)

Amaya's pov:

I get it now. I finally understand where I know him from.

I have the memory of a goldfish but to be honest it's not my fault. I only met him once and by chance, it's not like I'm gonna remember that random encounter again.

I normally forget about what happened after like a week or two and move on. But still, I must be really blind if I didn't recognise him beforehand.

"It was just that one encounter we had though," I glanced at him on the street curb.

"For you it might have seemed trivial but for me, it changed my perspective on things. I'm now Luke's proper dad and you are the person who made me want to get close to him," he gives me a sheepish smile and rubs a hand across his eyes.

I nod my head slowly and let out an amused smile.

"I admit, you're pretty cute,"

"Whattt?" Dexter turns to me and I drop my face and act all clueless.

"Whats up?"

"You just said that you think I'm cute," he says.

"What? Pftttt no," I look away, mentally punching myself.

Why the hell would I say that aloud? I really am an idiot.

"Finally fallen for me, Collins?"

"Keep on dreaming," I shoot him a glare and playfully nudge him as he pretends to act wounded.

"Ouch, you really know how to play with my heart,"

I sigh and look out at the empty street, before glancing at him.

"I never thought you were one to be involved in gangs. I mean I knew you were a playboy but I didn't think you were...." I trail off as he gives me a sheepish smile.

"Ahhh, well everyone fucks up sooner or later. Now, I'm just trying to get by and live my life with Luke."

"What about Ice Hockey?"

He stretches his arms above his head and leans back against the streetlight.

"Yeah, it's the only thing that i'm good at. I get good grades and all but Ice Hockey is kinda always been an escape for me."

"So...do you actually like it then?" I rose an eyebrow at him, confused.

"I mean...sort of. It helps me pass time and it helps me feel like...me. Whenever I'm off the ice I feel like I've got a hundred different faces but when I play, its only me,"

"Boys are so strange," I mutter as he regards me with a silly grin.

"Awww, don't worry, wifey. You'll get to know me sooner or later,"

He laughs and ducks underneath my fist as I try to hit him. Annoying idiot.

"You're infuriating sometimes,"

"But you love it," he sing songs and swings out the way as I lunge at him.

I finally get to my feet as he does the same and I frown at the night sky.

"I should head home, it's already around midnight now,"

"I'll give you a ride. My motorbike is parked up across the street at the end"

"No way, riding with you is a death wish,"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. You were literally clinging onto me as hard as you could. To be honest I think it's because you secretly wanted to feel my muscles," A smug grin crawls all over his face as he tries not to laugh.
