The music played as I wrapped my arms around Daron's neck. It had been a couple minutes or so, and we hadn't spoken. It was just pure silence. Whenever I wanted to say something, my mouth wouldn't move. I don't know why, it just felt weird dancing around with my "boyfriend's" cousin.
"So..." Daron began, trailing off.
I smiled, "So...?"
"You and Matthew." He started, looking away from me,
"What about us?" I asked, curiosity filling my voice.
Daron shrugged his shoulders, swaying to the music, "Uh-I don't know...you're dating him right?"
Oh how I wish I could say no. No, I'm not dating him. He is not my boyfriend. I don't like him and I never will. This is all just for money, and it is nothing. Nothing. Nada.
But, what came out of my mouth was completely different, "Yeah, he's my boyfriend! And I...love! ...him."
I grimaced at the sound of my voice, it was not convincing at all. The awkwardness between us was growing by the second and I was starting to regret my decision already. Maybe dancing with a guy wasn't all that I had made it up to be.
"You love him? He's a pain in the ass to me." Daron scoffed.
I was surprised by his answer, I thought they would have been close, "He's very...very...determined! And I like that about him. When he wants something, he doesn't give up until he gets it."
"Talk about spoiled kid behavior." He said as he rolled his eyes.
"He's not that bad." I shrugged, looking around us.
"Not that bad? Who are you? Some sort of angel? Nobody ever gets along with Matthew. He's a stubborn dick." Daron spat angrily, tightening his grasp on my waist.
I furrowed my eyebrows, a part of me was angry and ready to defend Matthew, another wanted to agree with him. "Did you just ask me to dance to talk shit about my boyfriend to me? That's really low Daron."
"No! Plus, you agreed to dance with me! Who does that when their boyfriend is here?" He attacked me with his words. Jeez, these Green boys are all just the fucking same.
"I was being nice! This dance didn't mean anything to me!" I told him, unlatching my arms from his neck harshly.
He took his hands off my waist and chuckled, "You don't find me a bit attractive?"
"No! You really are just another stuck up rich kid, aren't you?" I spat back, taking a step back from him. I had only just met this guy and I was ready to slap him into the next day.
He let out a fake laugh, "I am not stuck up! If anything, you're the prideful one, I know who you are, and a girl like you should-"
"Should what?"
I turned around, and for the first time, I was insanely glad to see Matthew Green. A rush of relief washed over me and I rushed over to Matthew, "Thank God Matt-"
"I see you've landed yet another bitch." Daron insulted me while talking towards Matthew.
"Don't you dare call her that!" Matthew defended me, stepping towards Daron.
Daron backed away, obviously scared, "I can call her whatever I want! Especially if it's what she is!"
"Just because I'm dating her does not mean you get to shove insults down her throat Daron! She is not just another fling for you to scare away and call names!" Matthew shouted, making me flinch at the sudden change of voice.
The room got quieter, and the attention turned to us. Every pair of eyes landed on Matthew. Daron, and I. All five hundred people were looking at us. It wasn't just a table of people, it was an entire fucking party of people. They were watching me. Watching me.
