"NO EFFING WAY!" Kiara said, her frustration evident as she saw Sarah"You brought her here? So what? She's in on this now?" Kiara said, her back against the railing
John B glanced at Pope, silently hoping for help. "I dunno," Pope said from beside JJ.
"Look, all I care about is that her cut comes out of your share", JJ said, gesturing between Sarah and John B.
"You know, I don't remember taking a vote." Kiara said, her voice sharp, "This is our thing, A pogue thing"
"I gotta say, I'm just a tad uncomfortable with all of this," Pope said
"Thank you!" Kiara blurted
"When are you not uncomfortable?" John B snapped
"I dunno. I rode here on the back of JJ's bike pretty comfortably." Pope shot back.
"It's true," JJ said, tilting his head momentarily "Most relaxed I've ever seen him"
"That's cute, guys", John B said, looking away.
"You know we were all extremely comfortable until you brought her", Kiara said, her gaze snapping to Sarah.
"Stop talking about me like I'm not here", Sarah snapped.
"Then leave", Kiara shot back.
"Wait—can we not do this right now?" Amelia said, attempting to interject.
"I told you," Sarah said, scoffing as she turned to John B.
"Told him what, exactly?" Kiara asked, her tone sharp "That you're a liar?"
"No, that, you're a shit-talking bitch, Kiara", Sarah shot back.
"Oh shit!" Pope exclaimed
"Oh yeah?" Kiara challenged
"When have I ever lied to you?" Sarah challenged
"Sarah, come on," Amelia said, "When?"
"My money's on Kie," JJ said, holding up cash.
"You get somebody close to you--for like a month", Kiara recalled
"I didn't lie about shit--" Sarah defended
"Everybody shut up!" John B shouted
Silence hung in the air, John B pausing before he spoke. "Kie, you are my best friend, right?" He asked
Kiara stared at him before shooting him a look.
"And Sarah, you're..." John B began, chuckling, "...you're my..."
"Say it," Sarah softly encouraged.
"You're my girlfriend," John B declared
"Ohh..that's new," Pope said
"She's your girlfriend now?" Kiara said, trying not to laugh "What was all that talk about using you were just using her for information? Get a map, cut her loose?" She said, her eyes falling on JJ, Pope and Amelia for backup.
"You said you were using me?" Sarah asked, her voice soft
"No." John B said, looking down at the floor.
"Yeah," Kiara said
"Yeah, you did," Pope said "You did say those things"
"You did, JB. We all heard you." Amelia said, sighing as JJ nodded.
