"Ya know, you coulda just tapped my shoulder or something," Connie grumbled, walking down the hall with Sasha.
She laughed. "Where's the fun in that?" she teased. He sighed. "Why are you taking me to your class anyway?"
Sasha started walking with a bounce in her step, "We're having a party~!"
Connie blinked. "How many times do you guys have parties while my class just sleeps?"
"This is the first time we've had one!" she said excitedly, "It's for Petra!"
Connie's eyes widen. "No way," he said.
"Yep!"
"You mean Levi..."
"Yep!!"
Connie chuckled. "I thought he'd never do it, it took him long enough."
Sasha laughed. "I know! But he did and now we get the whole day off! I invited you. Don't you love me~?"
Connie knew she was teasing but couldn't help the blush creeping up on him. Sasha didn't notice as she opened the door leading outside, where her class was just getting back with the party stuff.
Connie smiled at everyone who greeted him. He looked around, at the food and drinks. There were a few pizzas, some cookies, a cake, a couple food trays for the food. Bottled water, cans of soda, and a few energy drinks were available as well.
Sasha was talking excitedly with Reiner, who laughed at Sasha's energy. Connie felt his cheeks burn as unwanted jealousy overtook him.
He felt his shoulders slump slightly as he averted his gaze from the two. He jumped slightly when someone threw their arm around his shoulder.
"Nice of you to join us, Connie!" Petra told him happily. He smiled back at her. "Thanks for letting me join. Oh, congratulations, by the way!"Petra gave him one of her beautiful smiles. "Thank you!" She blinked, her smile fading. "Hey, what's wrong?"
Connie shook his head lightly. "It's nothing."
Petra's eyebrows furrowed in concern. "You look like you just got some bad news. Did something happen?"
Connie grinned at her reassuringly. "It's nothing, really! Don't worry," he said. She nodded, but still couldn't help feeling worried.
"Petra!" Someone called her over. She thanked Connie once again and left to see what her student wanted.
Connie daringly moved his gaze back to where Reiner and Sasha were. He blinked, seeing neither there. Glancing around, he tried looking for the crazy brunette.
"Connie~!!!"
Connie grunted as someone jumped on his back, making him stumble forward slightly. He laughed before looking over his shoulder at Sasha, who had attacked him. She had her arms around his neck from behind, which was what made him blush. He grinned at her, though. "Sasha. Get off."
Sasha tightened her grip slightly, though her arms were still lose around his neck. "No!"
He laughed. "Sasha!"
Sasha shook her head, making her bangs fall out of place. Connie chuckled and reached his arm across his chest so he could brush the hair back in place.
Realizing what he did, a blush broke out like wildfire. Sasha blinked at him, surprised. She laughed afterwards though. "Thanks, Springles." she teased.
Connie rolled his eyes, still blushing furiously. He couldn't form any words, so he just stuck with that.
"Alright everyone, come get something to eat!" Petra announced, standing by the neatly arranged table.
"Connie! Give me a piggyback ride!!" Sasha squealed excitedly. Connie laughed and refused. Sasha was persistent though.
"Pwease?" she pouted playfully, looking at him with begging eyes. Connie groaned dramatically in defeat. Sasha smiled as Connie leaned down slightly, so she could hop on his back.
He held the bend of her knees, walking across the length of grass to where the line for the food was. He couldn't help but notice how light Sasha was. Warm, too...
A shiver went up his spine. He blushed again, but thank goodness Sasha was concentrated on looking at the food.
"Do I have to carry you through the line, too?" Connie asked, a slight groan in his voice.
Sasha giggled. "Well, since you offered~"
Connie sighed loudly, making Sasha laugh. She hugged his neck gently. "Thank you, Connie," she said sweetly next to his ear.
Another shiver made him bite his lip. "N-no problem," he muttered.
As they were in line, a few people snickered at them, some copying them and giving them thumbs up, making Sasha laugh.
"So, Connie. Wanna spend the night and just ride with me to pick the others up for the party?" Sasha offered as they stood in line.
"Sure," Connie agreed. He's spent the night at her house many times before, so it was a normal thing. "I'll just call my grandma to tell her after school."
Sasha nodded then squealed excitedly, "You get to meet Toto!"
Connie raised an eyebrow, tilting his head back slightly to meet her eyes. "Toto?"
She giggled and poked his forehead. "He's my new dog," she said. "I got him a few hours after you guys left."
"Ah," Connie said. "Alright, get off."
Sasha hopped off to grab a plate, and started filling it as they went through the line. No one cared that it was only halfway through first hour; a party is a party, whether they wanna eat or not.
After both filled their plates as much as they wanted, and got drinks (both got Pepsi), they decided to sit in the shade of a tree, although it was still slightly chilly out.
"I can't wait for tomorrow!" Sasha said once they sat, "I've never been to a natural dam!"
Connie chuckled, taking a bit of pizza. "How far is it?"
"Almost an hour drive," Sasha stated. "But everyone says that it's worth it."
Connie nodded, leaning back on one hand as he ate silently. He scolded himself for being jealous earlier. There was no reason to be jealous. Reiner's her classmate.
Sasha quickly finished her last cookie a few minutes later, getting up to throw her paper plate and empty can away. After she sat back down, she laid back on the soft grass, looking up at the thick canopy of the tree and the spots of sun that shone through.
Connie finished minutes later, repeating what Sasha had done at a nearby trashcan. When he returned, he was going to say something, but only smiled gently.
Sasha had fallen asleep, one of her hands behind her head, the other resting on her stomach, and her hair slightly fanned out.
He chuckled and shook his head, laying back in his spot beside her, soon dozing off in the gentle morning breeze, listening to the rustling of leaves.
