Connie sighed as he rolled over on his back, staring up at the ceiling in the dark. Shuffling was heard to his right, and he sat up to look at Sasha on her bed.

He chose to sleep on the floor, so he wouldn't make her uncomfortable and so he wouldn't try to cuddle her or anything like that. ...No matter how much he wanted to.

What made his heart stop for a moment was her eyes slowly opening to meet his. He swallowed while his mind raced for an excuse as to why he was awake, let alone looking at her.

"Connie?"

Sasha's tired voice made him blush. "Y-yeah?"

"What... what time is it?"

Checking his phone, he had to blink a few times to adjust to the sudden light, even though it was dimmed as much as it could be.

"Two." he replied. Well, it was 2:07, but who needs minute details?
((See what I did there? Eh? XD))

"You can't sleep?"

He sighed, running a hand over his close-cut hair. "N-no, not really..."

"...Why?"

He could tell Sasha was half asleep, and still tired by the way she mumbled. He smiled at her, "I just need to go to the bathroom. Don't worry. I'll be right back."

Connie stood and walked to the door. When he opened it, Toto stumbled sleepily in, jumping up on Sasha's bed and curling up to her stomach. He smiled again and walked completely out, shutting the door slowly and softly behind him.

He knows Sasha's house like his own, so he walked down the hall to the bathroom without running into anything. Once the door shut, he flicked on the light and cringed at the brightness of it. Once he got used to it, he sighed and leaned on the counter to the sink, burying his face in his hands.

"What the actual hell is wrong with me..." his quiet voice was muffled my his palms. After a moment he rubbed his face, then turned to look at himself in the mirror.

And instantly, his self-esteem dropped.

His instant thought was, "Why would someone like her even slightly like me? Especially in that way?"

Then he froze. Sasha has been his best friend since he could remember. They've told each other secrets. They've exchanged thousands of notes in old middle school classes and suffered detention together. Heck, they've even changed clothes in the same room before (of course, with their backs to each other).

So why is he suddenly worrying about this? Of course she likes him. They're closer than some siblings. They might as well be brother and sister.

"I don't want to be her brother..."

Connie blinked in surprise at the whispered words coming from him. That was true, he loves being Sasha's best friend.

But something inside of him was telling him he was wrong.

Turning on the sink and splashing water on his face, he took a deep breath and sighed. His feelings were confusing him, and he was honestly hating it.

He loves Sasha as a close friend. But then there's another feeling that's telling him he loves her more than just that. That can't be true, right? After all, he's never had thoughts like these until recently.

It must be hormones.

Settling it on that, he dried himself off and flicked the light back off, heading back to Sasha's room. After silently shutting the door once more and sliding into his little spot on the floor, he rolled over onto his stomach and yawned. While his eyes drooped closed, a small weight on the middle of his back indicated that Toto was snuggling up on him.

~

"Connie?"

The male groaned, stretching out his arms and legs, cracking is eyes open slightly.

Sasha chuckled. "You looked like you were dead. Sleep well?"

Sitting up, he shrugged. "I guess so," he yawned.

The brunette giggled. "C'mon, it's already nine thirty. We have two hours until we go pick everyone else up."

Connie groaned loudly, flopping back down. "I don't wanna," he muffled into his pillow.

"I made waffles~"

"Well, why didn't you say so?!" Connie stood up quickly, startling Toto a bit, who just fell back asleep. "Let's go!" He grabbed her wrist and tugged her along.

She laughed and stopped, making him halt as well. "Uh-uh," she tsked, "Go brush your teeth first."

Connie glared playfully at her, mimicking the demand with a sarcastic tone, earning him a punch to the shoulder.

Rubbing his shoulder dramatically, he pouted, "Fine, Mom."

"Or no waffles," she warned him, grinning.

"Uuuuughh," his groan dragged as he stalked off to the bathroom to retrieve his spare toothbrush that Sasha was kind enough to allow him to keep at her house.

"Better hurry before there's none left!" Sasha teased from the kitchen.

"You're killing me woman!"
