As I dragged myself out of bed, I saw that James and Caesar were all ready awake. They were talking about something. I was too sleepy to understand what they were saying. After an hour or so, we all were done with breakfast, and together, we took all our fighting 'equipment' and left for the military base again. The number of zombies had increased during the night.

We now travelled in a safer-looking minivan now. The minivan belonged to Caesar, and for some mysterious reason it felt safe. I suppose it was just because we were now 3 people. Even though both of them were complete strangers for me, somehow I felt they had my back.

Now that we had enough guns, we moved through the highway fearlessly. We were now very close to our destination. Caesar had checked out the location of the base on the net, and it seems he was pretty sure he was on the right path. Caesar had given us clothes to wear- though the clothes were a little funny looking. But I don't think the zombies would look at our clothes before chewing our heads off. So I didn't mind them. They somehow seemed to suit me.

Caesar turned on the radio. There was, surprisingly, news about the breakout of the zombie apocalypse.

'Looks like they finally found something to talk about except politics, eh?' Caesar said. I nodded with a smile.

'Why do you look so freaked out, kid? Don't worry- we got your back now. There's no living, or dead in this case, person who can touch you now. You know, we were the best shooters of our little group. And that's a very big thing, really. You don't need to worry when you are with us.'

'If you see one of your family members that has become a zombie, will you shoot them?' I was scared to ask the question, but I still did.

'Maybe I will, maybe I won't. Depends on who it is. If it's someone I hardly knew even in my family, I'd rather love to shoot him. But if it was someone who was nice to me, I might hesitate a little, you know.' I nodded. I could understand what he meant.

We moved through the highway swiftly. There were no signs of New Jersey anymore. We had now come out of New Jersey, and the countryside scenery was taking over. But why was the military base so far away? As far as I could recall, the military base was a short drive from Caesar's home. But then I ignored the fact and listened to the radio.

The radio announced that the apocalypse started due to some unstable virus, which first paralysed the body, then took over the brain, and controlled the body. The virus forced the host to eat flesh, which helped the virus to multiply. The virus took over the whole body in a matter of hours after entering the body. The only way to stop the spread of the virus was to use the anti-dote, which was not even available yet.

I took out my phone to check our location. It shouldn't have taken so much time to reach the base. Before checking my phone, I asked Caesar, ' Are you sure you are taking the right path?'

'Of course I am sure. I've been travelling these roads since I was a child. And I also checked the way on the net last night. It is the right path. Don't you worry about it.' He grinned.

I checked my phone. The GPS showed the military base. It took some time for it to detect our current location. We were going in the right way. I think my calculations had gone wrong. We were still a little away from the base. 'What if the military is also infected?' I asked.

'Then we will have to shoot them too. We have no choice except that, Nick.' Said Caesar.

First kid, now Nick. This guy was going to call me a baby soon. I hated being called kid, or even Nick. My name is Nicholas. I don't need new names!
