Chapter 11 - The End - Or Is It?

The next morning, I hoped that this would all end soon. We had enough proof now, so we produced another copy of it to keep with us, and sent the original copy to the central government's direct mail, with the help of Luke. Luke knew the e-mail address, since he was a minister, of the central government's emergency alert.

The alert worked pretty well. We got the reply about an hour later itself, which said:

Mr. Luke,

We have gone through the proofs, of the deadly virus, that you have sent us. The Emergency Alert team has told the President about this issue, and he has approved that action must be taken against this virus. He has legalized an attack on New Jersey, which would wipe out the whole city, to avoid the spreading of the virus that has caused this. A team will be soon contacting any living person there through radio, commanding them to immediately move out of the city if possible. After this, the whole city will be bombed.

We thank you for alerting us beforehand of this issue

It had finally happened. We had successfully warned the government, and now they would soon end this all. There was no scope of mistake under the government's action.

As promised, soon a team came to Luke's house, and said that they would await his orders. Luke hadn't expected such authority, but he seemed happy about it.

At about 1300 hours, when we expected every living person in New Jersey to be awake and probably listening to the radio, Luke told the team to air the announcement. 'Do it boys,' he had said with such authority that he himself seemed like an army officer, commanding soldiers under him to start war. The team joined up a few wires, and soon a set-up was created, taking power from a socket in Luke's house.

The announcement was aired thrice in the following hour. It announced that due to the spreading of a virus, New Jersey would be bombed at 6 a.m. the following day, and any living citizen still in New Jersey is commanded to escape the city ASAP.

The rest of the day wasn't much of an excitement. As announced, the next morning at 6 a.m. , the team told their base to 'Sanitise New Jersey'. I don't know why they used that word, but who cares. About 5 minutes later, the city of New York heard bombs dropping and exploding in the neighbouring state New Jersey. After all of this, it had finally ended.

After some time, the army took us into a helicopter and they checked if anybody had survived 'The Sanitation'. The proof we had sent to Emergency Alert team was broadcasted by news channels as the justification of bombing New Jersey. We went across New Jersey in helicopters, to see if anyone had survived. I looked through my binoculars. Everything seemed fine...until I saw them. Zombies crawling slowly, creeping into the city of New York...
