We all knew that to get out of here, we have to fight them – there was no other option. We all grabbed preferred weapons. I grabbed my beloved AK-47. I tried my best to understand how the aim works, but my mind seemed to have stopped working.
Caesar took the wheel, and we took off, headed straight towards the zombies. As they came in view, the three of us started firing at them. There were so many of them that even if I didn't hit the one I wanted to, the bullet did hit some zombie or the other.
We sped right through the zombies. The rate at which they crashed into our windshield was amazing. I think 3 zombies crashed into our windshield every second. But, after all, it was Caesar's car. The windshield was secured, which meant that even though a lot of zombies crashed into the windshield, the windshield hardly got a scratch or two.
We continuously shot at the zombies, but they just kept coming. At last, we reached the front gate – and saw people struggling to fight the things. But we knew we couldn't help them – there were too many zombies. But we did shoot some of them, just to show our sympathy for the people.
We left the apocalypse shelter. We knew that no place was safe anymore – not until the city is bombed.
'So, what now?' James asked.
'Um... let's check the radio again.'
Caesar turned on the radio. There was nothing. Nothing but static. No help from the radio, I suppose. We looked at each other. All of us were clueless about what to do next. Caesar just drove on and on, stopping at a gas station to refill.
'I think all we can now do is leave the state. You know, warn the government about all this.' I suggested
'The probably know about it already.' James said.
'Then why don't they do anything?'
'Maybe they don't care.' Caesar suggested.
'Of course they do. But right now, I'm out of ideas too. Except the one I already told you.' I said.
'Then let's get to the Interstate.' Caesar said.
