'Are you sure you saw zombies?' 'Yes I am sure it was them. They were dead. It was quite obvious they were dead. The first one I saw had his lungs...burst. And when I killed him and ran, I saw similar ones eating people. It was like a war had broken out. But soon, there were more zombies than people.' I had been speaking rapidly and my mouth went dry.

'Ok, ok. Slow down. Here, have some water.' He handed me a bottle of water. We had shifted the supplies that I had brought into his car. Now we were going in his car.

'I'm sure you will believe me when you see it yourself. After all, seeing is believing.'

'Yes. I'll believe when I see it myself. So, where are these zombies?'

'Everywhere. Once you reach the main highway, you can see them crawling through the roads, and, attacking people, and eating them. It's just so gross.'

We reached the highway in some 6-7 minutes. At first, there were no zombies. But soon, as we moved closer to our next destination, which was someplace northwards, we saw one of those things.

'Oh my god!' he exclaimed. His eyes nearly popped out of his head.

'See? I told you. By the way, what's your name?' I acted casually, for I had seen enough zombies, and it didn't surprise me anymore.

'I am James-'

'-Bond?'

'No. James Peterson.'

'Oh. So, where are we headed to?'

'My friend's house. We'd be there in a few minutes. So, how did it all start?'

I told him about all that had happened that day - from my meeting till the time I reached his house. He listened intently. By the time I was done, we had reached his friend's house. The house was quite big, just like most houses out of the city are.

'Who's this friend of yours?'

'We met quite a long time back. His name is Caesar. He never told anyone his last name. It's quite a mystery.'

'That's uncanny. So, are you sure this guy won't make fun of us?'

'He won't if I broke the news to him. We've been like brothers for a long time now. He'll believe me. But you must keep quite while I talk to him.'

'I will.' We went into the house. It seemed nice from the outside. James knocked on the door. After some time, a young man came and opened the door. He was wearing a blue t-shirt and low-waist black jeans.

'Hey Jamey. What's up? Who's this guy?'

'Hey Caesar. This is Nicholas. I wanted to talk to you.'

'Come in, then.'

We went in. The house looked even bigger inside. All three of us sat down. The house was well-furnished. The walls had been painted blue. A laptop lay on a study table. There were several doors around the living room.

'So, what did you want to talk about?'

'This may sound weird, but I want to say it to the point. The zombie apocalypse has started.'

There was a weird silence as the two friends stared at each other for a long time.

'You're joking, right?'

'I am not joking.'

'You mean there are real zombies walking out there?'

'That's exactly what happens in a zombie apocalypse.'

'Wow man. I've literally waited for this all my life. I hope you are here to take me in your team. I am ready to fight some zombies.'

'This is not a joke, Caesar. And we came here to stay for the night. But you're welcome to join us. Right, Nicholas?'

'I have no objection whatsoever to that. The more, the safer, you know.'

'Good then. You can stay here for today. What's your plan, by the way?'

'Get to a military base as soon as possible.'

'Hmm... You two want anything to eat?'

'I do. What about you, Nicholas?'

'I'd love to have some food, too.'

All of us filled our stomachs. I had no idea what I ate. But it tasted good. I think that's all that matters. Then we all went to sleep. Caesar had a huge house to himself, so there was enough space for the three of us. We slept comfortably. I had bad dreams. Very bad dreams. I had been surrounded by zombies and was fighting all alone. I even saw James getting bitten by a zombie, and I had to kill him too.

I fought with all the zombies, but then my ammunition went out, and I was soon surrounded by zombies, completely defenceless. That's when I woke up. I looked at the wall clock in Caesar's house. It was 7:30 a.m. I had slept for a long time. I suppose I wasn't used to so much hard work in a day, so I must be tired. The night was over, and it was the beginning of the second day.

The second day of the apocalypse.
