The Next Step: 6 Years On

What are we going to do?

A/N: I wrote this, this morning, half asleep just before going skiing. I wanted to do something because we're leaving today and I haven't updated in forever but I promise tomorrow and the whole next week, you will get lots of updates. oh and thank you for all of the wonderful nominations for The Next Step Awards, really appreciate it guys xoxoxo

Trevor pov
"Oh my gosh" I say as we step in front of our blackened grass
Brittany starts crying and I automatically accompany her.
"Wow. Look at this. I swear whoever did this- they're not going to be alive tomorrow" I threaten and Britt laughs
"Do you want to go inside?" I ask her but she shakes her head. we wait outside but then lots of additional firefighters and police car start to arrive and I begin to get really worried.
"Babe can we just go back to the studio, see Ella and the kids and then find another place to stay for the time being? I was going to say to just go home but you know that can't really work right now" Britt says
"Hello. I'm Katie Page from Toronto News, can we ask you a few questions?" Katie asks us and Britt looks at me nodding
"Yeah sure that's fine" I reply
"So we understand, you both have new roles on a new movie called The Next Step: The Reunion, how will this fire affect your jobs?"
"Umm well we will still go to work every day as usual and have our normal lives. Our house will remain forever in our hearts, containing the many memories we have created. Our new house will probably be bought in a new suburb, away from the trees but we will stay close by in a hotel or friends place while all this mess is cleared up before we have any time to buy a new one" Britt said
"Ok. How long have you lived in this house together?"
"Well since Riley was born so 6....7 years" I reply
"Wow. Ok. last question. How do you both feel about the fire?" She asks and I turn to Britt, nodding at me to answer the question
"To be honest we really would prefer not to speak about it right now, but because we have to answer......absolutely devastated." I tell her
"Of course Thankyou very much Trevor and Brittany. We hope the fire burns out soon and your house's memories will stay the way you would like. Good luck guys" she says before walking away
"Ok would you like to go now?" I ask Britt
She nods as we make our way to our car
"Oh my god. What are we going to do?" Britt asks as soon as we get in the car
"look for new houses I guess. All of our safe stuff is under our house buried so as long as that doesn't get burnt we're ok" I tell her
"did you tell the firemen about under the house?" she asks me and I nod
"good. how are we going to break this to the kids Trev?"
"I don't know Hun but we'll figure it out" I say before we arrive at set. we walk up the stairs hand in hand as we reach the top
"hey you guys" Chloe says slowly and Britt runs over to her, giving her a hug while sobbing into her shoulder
"hi" I say as Riley, as sore and as painful it looks to be her, hops over to me; pale as ever and Emma who is asleep in her carrier comes over with Ella who gives me a hug.
"are you ok Ella?"
"yeah. when you said: Don't let anything happen to them even if there's a fire; I thought you were joking because that's never happened to me before but obviously you weren't. that fire was......intense. I'm so glad I saved these two though because they were so good and calm. Riley is still in the worse condition possible but she was perfect and just so well behaved. you and Britt should be lucky. so lucky. they're alive, that we're all alive" she says and I pull her Into another hug
"thank you. for everything. for evacuating, for saving our children's lives. thank you so so much" I tell her
"no worries Trevor. I have to go tell my mum and family I'm ok. I'll see you later?" she says walking out
"bye Brittany"
"bye Ella. I really appreciate what you did. thank you" she says as Ella gives her a hug and leaves

"Riley. how are you baby? we really need to get you somewhere" I say as she looks up at me
she holds up 5 fingers which was her way of saying so-so, ok. I nod giving her a sympathetic look
"so are you two ok?" frank asks. they obviously came straight here this morning to get stuff organised for the show and Ella must've bursted in, explaining everything the poor girl. that's probably how they know what's going on.
"ah yeah we were at the hospital with Victoria and Isaac since vic was about to give birth when I got a call from the fire department and we ran straight there until after questions from Toronto News, I couldn't take it anymore and we decided to head here" Britt says, wiping her tears away and stepping over near me.
"yeah we didn't mean to disturb your work. we were just getting the kids and heading back to the hospital." I add
"oh Trevor. don't worry about a thing. you weren't disturbing is at all. we totally understand" Chloe says
"ok well we're going to go back to the hospital, maybe we could stay there the night because of Riley, Britt?" I ask her
"that's a good idea. ok see you guys later" Britt says as we walk out. I help Riley as she walks and Britt carries Emma's carrier.
we arrive at the hospital and James comes running up to us, followed behind by Alec and Zac who look so tired.
"hey you guys" Alex says giving Britt a hug as she gives the carrier to Zac and james hops into my arms
"hey buddy. how were you and Maddie? hitting off anything there?" I joke around with him
"Trevor!!!!" Britt hears as everyone laughs
"it's ok mum. I only got a kiss on the cheek- that's it. all good" James says to everyone as they giggle
"and a kiss on the lips but don't tell anyone else" James whispers just to me and i giggle.

I'm so lucky these kids are alive, but I can't help but wonder.............
