My first step into beating Kate was already completed. I made it back on the cheer team after impressing Coach Mel. Honestly, I don't know why she didn't already know how much better I was than Kate. But it all worked out in the end so I won't hold it against her.

The unfortunate thing was that Coach Mel added Kate on the team. Kate probably pulled some heart strings or something just to be on the team. I pretended to be excited for her but in reality I knew she had no right being here. Everyone else secretly knew it too but they followed along once they saw I was happy for her.

We had another practice today after school and although I was feeling restless, I still managed to put on my big girl pants and come. Our football team had another game next week so we had to rehearse for it.

The fields were busy with other athletic teams today. Football was on one side of the field while the cheer team was on the other for practice. A lot of the girls, like always get so giddy watching the football players who love practicing with their shirts off.

The track right by the field seemed to be somewhat more crowded today too. Rarely anyone used it except for the track team on Monday's but today apparently everyone was in the mood to run.

I hear a lot of chattering come from the track field and can't help but to look over. As we stretched and did our warm ups, I studied the crowd over at the track field. Mostly girls, some underclass men girls I recognized but didn't know them by name. I straighten up when I realize why they were all there.

I notice Jude standing in the middle of the girls, his back facing me but I recognized that as him. He was taller than everyone else, I hate that something like that made him so easily recognizable. Maybe if he was short I wouldn't notice him and wouldn't stare.

"Hey Anna! You're doing flips this routine, that okay?" Rachel asks me but I was still staring over at the track field.

What are they possibly talking to him about.

"That's fine." I brush off, not really paying attention.

"Alright, everyone get in their first positions. I want to get the whole routine done by tomorrow at the very least. Now that we have an extra girl, we can try more stuff. Anna, I'm making you the lead girl so you're walking out first." Coach Mel points to me and I have to hold back a smirk when I pass Kate.

While she talks to the others, I use this time to put my hair into a high ponytail. I hadn't done any flips in months so I knew I had to train extra hard this week.
