Diary Entry Three
Things are proceeding adequately. I still harbor doubts about trusting these individuals but am doing so for Brodey's sake. I do not want him to be lonely with only my company. Finn, their leader, is the one person I distrust the most. He is rude, self-centered, and disregards that it is my and Brody's house. He irritates me. Nevertheless, -Zilla out.
Zilla's POV
The first rays of sunlight streamed through the curtains, casting a warm glow in my room, and I awoke to the unmistakable sound of laughter and the unmistakable sensation of my bed bouncing beneath me. Brodey and Darcy, in a fit of giggles, were jumping on my mattress, their excitement palpable. I groaned, attempting to banish the remnants of sleep from my eyes. As I rubbed at my eyelids, trying to focus, I squinted at their animated faces, confusion evident in my expression.
"What is going on?" I mumbled, finally sitting up and stretching my limbs to shake off the drowsiness. My mind raced as I tried to piece together what could be so urgent.
Darcy flashed me a bright smile, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Fin is cooking breakfast! He asked us to wake you," she chirped, her voice filled with enthusiasm as she twirled around the room, clearly enjoying the morning antics. Brodey shuffled alongside her, nodding in agreement.
As I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stood up, I felt a rush of energy, curiosity piquing my interest about the day ahead. I made my way to the bathroom, the duo trailing after me like two eager shadows.
"Are you serious? What's he cooking?" I queried, half-laughing, half-exhausted, as I moved to turn on the shower, letting the water warm up. "And how did he even find the food?" Darcy and Brodey exchanged a quick look, filled with unspoken words and a hint of mischief before Darcy whispered, loud enough for me to hear through the bathroom door, "I think he likes you!" Their laughter echoed in the small space, and I could almost picture their playful nudges and teasing expressions.
Rolling my eyes, I tried to brush off their remarks, but a flicker of warmth spread through me at the thought. "What is he making?" I called back, but silence followed. I took the hint; they must have scampered off to the kitchen.
Once I was alone, I stepped into the shower, the warm water cascading over me like a comforting embrace. I closed my eyes and focused on washing my hair, letting the scents of shampoo fill the steamy air. I couldn't help but wonder about Fin's breakfast plans and if there would be pancakes, eggs, or, perhaps, something special he had concocted just for this morning. Whatever it was, I felt a flutter of anticipation for what the day might hold.
After finishing my shower, I turned off the water and stepped out, feeling the cool air against my damp skin. I reached over to the cupboard beside the shower and pulled out a fluffy towel, rubbing it against my hair to soak up as much water as possible. With a glance in the mirror, I took a deep breath, bracing myself for what awaited outside the bathroom door.
As I opened the door, I was greeted by an unexpected sight: two familiar faces stood in the hallway, bright smiles plastered on their faces as if they were sharing an inside joke. A flicker of curiosity crossed my mind, and I raised an eyebrow. "What are you smiling at? Why didn't you answer my question?" I asked a hint of playful accusation in my voice.
