Monrows pov

We enjoyed a truly delightful breakfast that morning. Zilla, with her incredible culinary skills, prepared an array of delicious dishes that made the meal unforgettable. Every bite was a testament to her talent, and I savored every morsel as we sat at the table, sharing stories and laughter.

After our satisfying meal, we turned our attention to the chores that awaited us. I felt a flutter of apprehension at the thought of venturing into the garden, I understood that if we neglected the garden, it would soon become a wild mess.

So, I decided to gear up for the task ahead. I slipped into a long-sleeved shirt to protect my arms from scratches, paired it with sturdy long pants, and laced up my reliable old gym shoes, which had seen better days but still served me well.

As I made my way down the staircase, eager to tackle the day's responsibilities, I was met with a wave of concern. Darcy came rushing toward me, her eyes wide with fear, as she latched onto my side.

"What's wrong, Darcy?" I inquired, noticing her distress. She looked up at me with sincerity and trepidation, exclaiming, "I'm scared! I don't want to go outside. What if I get bitten by something or hurt? What should I do?" Her voice trembled with worry, and it was clear she needed reassurance.

I paused for a moment, pondering what alternative activity might draw her interest instead of venturing out to the garden. "Oh, how about lending a hand to Athena with her cleaning?" I suggested, my voice light and cheerful, a warm smile spreading across my face.

She looked up at me, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm, returning my smile with her own bright one.

"Yeah, I can definitely do that! I'll go see if she needs any help. Bye, Monrow!" she exclaimed, her voice bubbling with excitement. With that, she released my hand and bounded off toward Athena's room, her footsteps echoing down the hallway. I watched her go, a sense of joy filling me as I saw her eagerness to contribute.

As she walked away, I couldn't shake the sudden spring to my step. I wasn't quite sure why, but something about today felt promising—maybe it was the way the sunlight streamed through the windows or the gentle rustle of leaves outside. Despite the gray skies beyond the glass, a sense of optimism enveloped me like a warm blanket.

I strolled over to the door, my heart racing with a mix of excitement and caution. I needed to check if Zilla or Finn were outside completing their usual patrols. As I opened the door, I spotted Zilla and Finn deep in conversation just a few steps away, their laughter mingling with the soft breeze.

Taking a deep breath, I ventured outside, carefully stepping onto the grass, which felt cool beneath my feet. I made my way toward the garden, eager to see how the plants were doing. The vibrant colors of the blossoms greeted me as I approached, each petal glistening with the remnants of morning dew.

I took a moment to appreciate the beauty of the blooms, feeling a sense of peace wash over me as I tended to my little sanctuary.

The assortment of fruits sprawled out in front of me was vibrant, each one displaying its own inviting color and texture, except for the watermelons. Those hefty, green-striped fruits were beginning to show signs of decline, their surfaces marred by faint blemishes, a clear indication that they were aging faster than desirable. Realizing I needed to act quickly, I decided it was time to bring them indoors.
