- Author's pov :

Red Lehnga , red dupatta , gold necklace with red stones embarked on it , golden heels and devaansh's selected red bangles, and gold rings.

She was ready to get married to her one and only.

Devika sat behind the mirror, gazing at her reflection with her emotions packed up in her chest.

Just yesterday she thought she was over the moon and was ready to forget everything that happened in her life but today it felt different.

Wearing the traditional bridal attire , she couldn't help but think

' What if I had them here?' Her eyes on their own showed her a memory of her family and she chuckled , shaking her head while imagining what her sisters would have said at such an occasion.

'Api, you have always dreamt of getting married and look, today is your day' she looked in the mirror , smiling at her youngest sister standing beside her.

Just behind her youngest sister, she saw her other two sisters laughing and enjoying themselves. Taking pictures and then coming behind her to take pictures with her as well.

Tears made their way in her eyes as she gulped down the lump forming inside her throat, looking at them after ages.

The door opened revealing her parents. They came in and stood in front of her. Devika's smile suddenly faltered seeing her sisters joining her parents, standing in a line and leaving her alone.

'My daughter is looking pretty' Her mother smiled with tear filled eyes.

Devika looked at her father but he didn't say anything. Maybe aware that she knew about his truth.

"b-baba" Devika whispered, stuttering and standing up to face them.

She stepped forward, stretching her hands to hug them all at once

but as she brought her hands near they captured nothing. She looked here and there , breathing heavily to see where everyone was but there was no one.

The bridal room, where she has been after getting ready, was empty with just her inside. She gasped , her eyes widening with the realisation of reality.

Devika heaved out a breath , holding on to the chair on which she was sitting a few moments back, for support, she looked at herself in the mirror.

Devika's pov :

What was that? Did I just get a glimpse of my family? But why today? Am I missing them too much?

I asked myself these questions on repeat. For a second, I thought it was real. They were here.

I have manifested this day since I was a kid. Dreamt of marrying the person I will fall in love with in future and my family sending me off with just happiness in our lives.

I am getting married to the only person I have fallen in love with

But where is the other part?.

Where is my family?

I looked up at the ceiling, still trying to get my breathing back to normal and struggling to stop the tears from falling.

"Kyu kiya apne mere sath aese?" I softly asked, not moving my gaze from the ceiling. Without my permission, the tears which I was holding back streamed down and a sob left my lips.

(Why did you do this to me ?)

I pressed my lips tightly together.

"It's fine ...... it's fine .... easy"I chanted, my fingers drumming a slow rhythm on my chest, as my body swayed gently back and forth in a soothing motion.
