This has nothing to do with the original plot of the book and is simply a special for new years. Thank you so much for reading and hope you have a great year!!!

You let out a long sigh, staring at the ticking clock of the teapot's kitchen.

That proved to be pointless, as you were unable to make out where the hand of the clock was even located. The only light illuminating the room was but a single jasmine scented candle, and it wasn't bright enough to really see much.

You hated days like these, where time seemed endless and everything was pointless. In simpler terms, you were bored.

Usually, you had your boyfriend to keep you company. Although, today he was in one of his moods. And that drove you insane.

Any attempt to get close to him was immediately shut down, and you can't say that it didn't hurt your feelings to an extent. Yes, he was usually like this. But not with you. He was more open, more peaceful, more needy.

The fact that he was pushing you away and isolating himself wasn't so out of the ordinary for him, but you knew something was wrong. Something annoyed him, and you wanted to know what.

...

After failing to receive a response, you knocked once more.

...

"I'm coming in!" You called out, loud enough for him to hear you behind the door. You carefully twisted the knob, and entered.

You gazed at his slouched position, pen in hand, his notebook filled with scribbles and images you couldn't quite make out.

"Hey." You said softly, making your way towards him. He smoothly turned over a blank page in his notebook.

"Yes?" He replied, not moving from his place on the desk.

"Dinner's ready." You gently removed the hat atop his head, and entangled your fingers in his hair.

"I don't need to eat." He didn't lean into your hand like he usually did.

"I made your favourite. Shimi Chazuke." You continued to caress his head.

"I.. can bring it to you if you want."

He heard the disappointment in your voice. He wasn't oblivious to the fact that you were upset from the very morning. He didn't like that. He didn't like that how he acted had an effect on others, and he didn't like the fact that he cared so much about how you felt.

This was new to him, and he knew that it wasn't an excuse to treat you recklessly. He didn't want to push you away, in fact he wanted to be close to you more than ever.

He just didn't know how.

"Let's go eat."

He loved the smile that appeared on your face when he said that. He took pride that he was the one to be able to cause it, and to witness it.

-————-

"Do you like it?" You asked, taking a bite form your own dish.
