Jimin sat on his bed, scrolling through his phone. He laughed at a meme Jungkook had sent him, but his smile faded when he saw the next message.
"I've been in love with you for a long time."
Jimin blinked, reading it again. He felt his heart race, and his stomach dropped. Was Jungkook serious? He quickly typed back, "Are you serious? Like, for real?"
The reply came fast, too fast. "Yeah. I've been in love with you for a while now, but I didn't know how to tell you."
Jimin's mind went blank. He couldn't believe it. They had been best friends for years, sharing everything. laughs, secrets, the occasional fight~~<but love? No, that was never part of the deal. Wasn't it?
Jimin sat there, his hands shaking as he tried to type. "I... I don't know what to say."
There was a long pause. Then another message from Jungkook. "You don't have to say anything right now. I just needed you to know. I couldn't keep it in any longer."
Jimin felt his head spin. Was this really happening? He didn't want to lose Jungkook as his best friend. But at the same time, something inside him stirred. Could he see Jungkook as more than just a friend?
Suddenly, there was a knock on his door. Jimin froze. No way. It couldn't be him. But it was.
Jungkook stood there, his hands shoved into his pockets, looking nervous. "Can we talk?" he asked, voice soft.
Jimin stepped aside, letting him in. "What are you doing here?" he asked, his voice a little shakier than he meant it to be.
"I couldn't just leave it at that," Jungkook said, his voice full of anxiety. "I need to say this in person."
Jimin didn't know what to do or say. They stood there, staring at each other, both unsure of what would happen next. Finally, Jungkook spoke again.
"I've always loved you, Jimin," he said, his eyes searching Jimin's face. "And I was scared. Scared of losing you if I told you. But I can't hide it anymore."
Jimin's heart pounded. He didn't know what to think. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. He had always thought of Jungkook as family. But now? Now everything was changing, and it scared the hell out of him.
"I don't know if I can handle this," Jimin admitted, his voice low. "What if things change between us?"
Jungkook's face softened. He stepped forward, gently taking Jimin's hand. "It doesn't have to change unless you want it to. I just needed to tell you. And no matter what happens, I'll always be here for you. You won't lose me."
Jimin felt his chest tighten. Could it really be that simple? Could they be more than friends? The thought terrified him, but part of him wanted it, too.
"I'm not sure," Jimin said, his voice barely a whisper. "I need time to think."
Jungkook nodded, not pushing him. "Take all the time you need. I'll wait. I'm not going anywhere."
Jimin could see the honesty in his eyes. Jungkook wasn't going to force him into anything. He just wanted to be open about his feelings.
"Okay," Jimin whispered. "Maybe... maybe we can figure this out."
The days after Jungkook's confession were hard. Jimin tried to act like everything was normal, but his mind was constantly racing. Every time he saw Jungkook, his heart would beat faster. Every laugh they shared felt a little different now, a little heavier.
Jungkook gave him space, just like he said he would. He didn't push Jimin to make a decision, but the tension between them was undeniable.
One night, Jimin sat on his bed, staring at his phone. He hadn't talked to Jungkook in a while. He missed him. Not just as a friend, but in a way he couldn't explain.
Finally, he typed, "Can we talk?"
A few minutes later, Jungkook replied. "I've been waiting for you to say that."
Jimin smiled at the message, but the nerves were still there. He grabbed his jacket and went to Jungkook’s apartment. When he got there, Jungkook was waiting by the door, looking as nervous as ever.
"You good?" Jungkook asked with a small, shy smile.
Jimin nodded. "I've been thinking... a lot."
Jungkook's eyes widened slightly, like he was holding his breath.
"I don't know what I’m doing," Jimin said, his voice shaky. "But I... I think I'm ready to try. I want to see where this goes. With you."
Jungkook didn't say anything at first. Then he stepped closer, pulling Jimin into a tight hug. "You don't know how long I've waited to hear that."
Jimin laughed softly, his heart pounding in his chest. "I'm still scared, though."
Jungkook pulled back just enough to look him in the eyes. "I know. I'm scared too. But we don't have to rush it. We'll take it slow, one step at a time. Together."
Jimin felt the weight lift off his shoulders. Maybe it wouldn't be perfect. Maybe it would be messy. But he was willing to try. And that was all that mattered.
"Okay," Jimin said, smiling for the first time in days. "Let's see where this goes."
Jungkook smiled back, his hand brushing Jimin's cheek. "I promise, we'll be fine. We'll figure this out."
