14. You're a doll

This is a story that I really love that has been basically copy and pasted over from my OTHER one shots book that you should check out...?

Peggy's POV:

It's around 7pm and the sun has already set and the beautiful orange hue in the sky has faded into a soft blue and black.

I'm finishing some paperwork work and I put my typewriter away underneath the desk and I patiently wait for Y/N to come back to the office so we can go home and have dinner.

She was sent out this morning for some sort of mission, she didn't tell me the specifics of it but all she said was to not worry when she gets back and that she is going to 'take someone out.'

I take out my book that I am currently borrowing from Katherine, the lady at the front desk and begin to read. I get about 2 chapters in when I hear a gasp from a lady outside of my door and a hushed voice,
"Don't you worry now doll, I'm not hurt nor do I intend to harm you."
I'd know that voice anywhere even if I was a mile away from it.

My door opens and there she stands, her suit and body covered in thick, dark, crimson stains. Cigarette in hand and not a glimpse of worry on her face.

I stand up from my chair and place my book face down on the desk to keep my place for tomorrow.
She looks towards me and smiles,
"Afternoon my darling, I hope I'm not too late for dinner." She says while checking her cracked pocket watch. I'm not even sure that it even worked anymore. She just likes the novelty, and as do I.

I smile back and walk towards her, I place my hands on either side of her face and bring her down to my lips to connect them in a loving kiss,

"Just on time Y/N. Let's go home and get you cleaned up shall we?" I say before taking my coat and bag from the peg on the wall, she offers her elbow to link with me as we walk, I flick off the lights to my office, close and lock the door behind us and stroll towards our new car.

Once we get home, I make a b-line for the bathroom and drag Y/N alone with me, she knows what to do so she takes her shirt and holster off and places them on the floor next to her as she sits down on the side of the tub.

I take a bottle of medical alcohol and a rag and tend to the little scratches and cuts on her upper body.
She thanks me and brings me into another kiss.

"Now run yourself a nice bath while I go and get dinner ready my love." I say to her and I walk away into the kitchen.

I prepare steak, potatoes and asparagus with a glass of red wine for me and a glass of whiskey for Y/N.

I light two candles and light the fire in the living room fireplace, she walks back through into the kitchen, now dressed in just her bra and lounge wear.

She sits down and takes her cutlery in her hands,

"Thank you sweetheart, I love you so very much, forever and always my dearest Peggy." She smiles at me and she begins to eat her food and so do I.

We finish up, wash the dishes and head to our bedroom, both of us ready for bed. She lays down behind me and holds me close to her front, one arm over my waist and the other laying under my head while also holding my left hand, our fingers and legs linked together.

I push further back into her body and she leans down to whisper into my ear,
"You're a doll Peggy. I'm so lucky to have you in my arms at night."

"As am I to be so grateful for the miracle to me held by you." I whisper back before drifting off into a slumber.

My love.

My life.

My moon.

My sun.

My protector.

My saviour.
