My feet felt numb by this point; skin succumbing to the scathing frost of water - specks of stardust glooming over what I could only assume as snow. It felt of it, looked of it, smelt of it: a well thought out conclusion especially with being the season of winter.

Snow.

Snow...

Winter.

An old tale from a memory I dare not to say out loud. Lorie would argue it stemmed of childhood trauma - never wanting to remember. I say it's simply from growing older: the mind cannot fathom every waking moment after all. I can't remember every single step I took yesterday or even an hour ago.

A silly conclusion.

She was always so much more emotional.

A soft hum could be heard through my ears, although I had never heard the wind making that sound before it was plausible; it sounded of home. That made sense, considering I sat at an antiquated remembrance: my childhood home.

Long since abandoned - although perhaps a family of raccoons nestled in its corners to hide from the glacial temperatures.

Childish, foolish thought of mine. And yet, comforted me - not that I needed it.

Numbness was normal with how long I dipped my feet into the waters; although perhaps I should've taken them out sooner.

The entire skin was pale.

Frostnip.

The stage before frostbite.

To be honest I was quite lucky no nerve damage did sustain. It was stupid of me to put myself in that position.

Yet, I wanted it. I could not explain why: but maybe I just didn't care enough.

Haze exited my throat when I exhaled: straightening as I got up.

Condensation of water vapor.

I slid my boots back on - faux fur wrapping its warmth around senseless.

I was gone for too long anyways, I might worry someone if I stay any longer.

That was also a stupid conclusion.

Maybe Lorie or Lover would care.

Maybe Reputation or Midnights would notice

My car wasn't too far: about ten minutes from what I counted on my way here.

Why my family decided to settle near a lake in the middle of nowhere when I was young was beyond me. No neighbors, no friends, no school. Well, homeschool counts.

Plush white comforted my steps as I walked off the pier; avoiding all its slick ice underneath.

My neck was protected from the barrier of my hair when the wind blew - a soft breeze this time.

Although for some reason I could not explain I heard that familiar reminiscence of home.

Windchimes.

My head shot back, examining the wooden cottage and as I had thought no instrument was playing the tune. Yet I still heard it.

Gentle. Beautiful. Melodic.
