SRASHTI'S POV

My headset was suddenly yanked from my ears, leaving me in a disorienting silence that clashed painfully with the music still echoing in my mind. Frustration bubbled within me, twisting my expression into irritation as I turned to confront the culprit, my gaze sharp and searching for answers.

" Zahaana, yeh kya tareeka hai?" My voice filled with irritation.

(Zahaana, what is this behavior?)

"Aur yeh kya tareeka hai? Hum ithni der tumhe bula rahe hai." Zahaana retorted,  pouting slightly.

(And what is this behavior? I've been calling you for a long time now.)

"Okay, Aanu. I'm sorry. Now tell me, what happened?" I asked, unable to stop myself from worrying.

Zahaana's face lit up with excitement and her rosy cheeks turned crimson. Downcasting her eyes, she replied," Sameer.....usne hume date pe bulaya hai."

(Sameer.....He invited me on a date.)

" A date? On which date will you be paying? Right? Because that bastard didn't have enough money to buy himself a good outfit." I scoffed.

Sameer is often called Zahaana's boyfriend, a title associated with him since their final year of college. Their relationship blossomed amidst the vibrant backdrop of campus life, where shared experiences and late-night conversations deepened their bond. Over the past year, they have navigated the complexities of young love, each navigating their aspirations while finding comfort in one another's company.

But it was anything but love. Sameer was just a gold digger. All he does is suck up all the benefits he could get from dating Zahaana. And this hopeless romantic Zahaana doesn't understand it. I know she loves him but this guy isn't worth it. He spends all his time lounging about with no real purpose, casually flirting with any girl who crosses his path. From the moment he wakes up to the minute he goes to bed, his days revolve around seeking attention and trying to charm the women around him, completely avoiding any responsibilities or serious interactions. His parents gave up on him and refused to pay for his allowances.

To protect what we believe to be her deep feelings for him, we have decided not to inform Zain about the developing relationship between Zahaana and Sameer. We want to preserve Zahaana's love, even if it means keeping this secret from him for now.

Although he had no fundamental objections to Zahaana pursuing a relationship, his feelings would shift dramatically when he discovered she was covering his expenses. At the same time, Sameer lounged around without a care in the world. The thought of her financial generosity being taken for granted would ignite a sense of frustration within him. He couldn't bear the idea of her sacrificing her well-being for someone who seemed so indifferent. In those moments, he would feel compelled to take a stand and make her reconsider her choices, ultimately urging her to leave that unworthy situation behind.

" Tsk. Don't worry, this time he's gonna pay." She replied.

"How?" was my only question.

" He got a job. And he wants me to go on a date with him to celebrate it." She squealed, feeling overwhelmed.

Well, that caught me off guard. As far as I know, he barely completed his B.Tech. His social skills are equal to zero except for his cheap flirting skills. His chances of getting a job were nearly impossible, keeping his lack of responsible behavior and extraordinary grades.

I noted the sarcasm.

" So when is this date of yours?" I asked unable to keep myself from asking.

" Next Saturday evening." She replied, blushing and probably making up scenarios of her date.

" Great. Then shall we go shopping for the date?" I asked.

" Yes! We'll go on Friday. And buy a lot of dresses." She overjoyed.

She has a deep passion for shopping, finding joy in the experience rather than just purchasing. It's especially fulfilling for her when she shops with people she cherishes, whether friends, family, or a significant other. The laughter, shared opinions, and heartwarming moments spent together transform a simple trip to the store into a treasured memory. For her, shopping isn't just about acquiring new items; it's a way to connect and express her affection. This shared experience often becomes one of her primary love languages, allowing her to show care and appreciation for those she holds dear.

With a soft ping, my phone caught our attention, distracting us from discussing Zahaana's date.

I swiftly grabbed my phone back from Zahaana's grip as she held it still.

Sticking my tongue out, I teased her when she couldn'takeke hold of my phone.

I checked my phone and it was my sister's message.

ANATRIKA DI💖: Meri pyaari choti behen, kahan hai aap?

( My sweet little sister, where are you?)

At first glance, when I read the message, I could almost picture it being sent by a concerned older sister, anxiously inquiring about the whereabouts of her younger sibling. It seemed like a typical text filled with affection and worry, perhaps meant to express her longing or disappointment over my absence. However, I knew better. Beneath the surface of those seemingly innocent words, I could feel the simmering irritation she must have felt about my choice to stay away during such a pivotal moment in her life. Today was no ordinary day; it was a day that marked the beginning of a new chapter for her, a day filled with the weight of expectation and celebration.
