"Good morning everyone." I said as i entered the kitchen.
I slept late after I stayed up late working on papers then I took some sleeping medicine.
"It's not morning anymore. Your mom wanted you to go into the city with her but you wouldn't wake up." My dad said
"Well it's still lunch time and if I hurry and get ready, I can beat rush hour." I said running back upstairs.
(Me): Hey, lunch in an hour?
MOMMY!!😁😘😇👸🏽💘): lunch is fine. Where?
(Me): somewhere fancy. 😏 What are you wearing? Work out clothes?
(MOMMY!!😁😘😇👸🏽💘): Mama always dresses nice child. You just try to keep up. Take notes. 😂📝
(Me): No girl, you keep up. You'll never see me slacking. See you in an hour. 😘
I had to find my fanciest outfit and because I couldn't, i went to my moms closet.
I put on a red halter maxi dress with a little back out. Luckily I had my cheetah print red bottoms with me and my red clutch. I went light on jewelry. I put on my gold arm cuff and matching earrings. I decided to flat iron my hair and wear it to the left side to cover my lazy eye and finished off my makeup.
"You look good babygirl. Watch out though. Your mom just made a dress and shoe purchase." He said holding his phone up and showing me his account transactions through his bank company.
"Trust me, daddy, she's still a beginner at this game," I said kissing him on the cheek and then doing the same to David who had been watching me since I walked in the living room.
I drove to lunch blasting gospel to calm my nerves. I hate driving in California. It brings out my road rage. Although, I sure did look good driving my moms Range Rover.
"We'll don't you look nice?" The waiter said when I walked in the restaurant.
"Thank You. Covington, Party of Two please." I said before picking up my phone.
Before I met David, I probably would have taken that opportunity to flirt and openly accept the attention but now, I don't even pay guys any mind.
"Right this way ma'am." He said leading the way.
I nodded when he seated me as a way of saying thank you. "Hello?" I said into my phone
"Hey, guess who I just saw at the airport?" Auntie Nae yelled into the phone.
"Who?" I asked.
"Right here fine?" My waiter asked.
"Yes. Thank you." I said taking my seat.
"What?" She yelled in the phone.
"Nothing. I wasn't talking to you." I responded. "And please lower your voice," I added.
"Oh. Ok. What are you doing?" She asked.
"Waiting for my mom so we can have lunch and talk," I said looking around the restaurant for her.
"Really? What are you wearing?" She asked excitedly.
"Girl, a red dress, cheetah print red bottoms, red clutch, gold arm cuff and matching earrings... I'll send you a picture." I said turning my camera on and snapping a picture and sending it.
"YESSS YESSS AND MORE YESSSS." She said when she got the picture.
"Thanks, boo. You know I try to keep up with you." I chuckled. "Wait. Nae, who'd you see in the airport?" I asked noticing we were totally off topic.
"Huh?" She asked.
"When you called. You said "guess who I just saw at ...
"Oh. Your boo. Derek Luke" she said cutting me off and getting loud again.
"Shutup! With his fine lass. Gosh. Why is he so freaking married?" I whinnied
"Oh. He's on my flight. I gotta get back to work. Call me later and tell me how lunch goes. I love you." She said before hanging up.
"Sorry I'm late." My mom said finally sitting down.
"You look nice mommy," I said cheesing hard
"You don't look too bad yourself," she said back
"Are you two ladies ready to order?" Our waiter asked
"Can we just start off with drinks to have a few minutes to look over the menu?" I said glancing at my menu.
"Sure. Take all the time you need" he responded.
"Thank you. I'll have a strawberry lemonade margarita." I said smirking at my mom.
"Surprise me with a red wine," My mom said
"Can I see some id's?" he asked
We showed him and he went to make our drinks.
"He was definitely flirting with you, Hannah." My mom said after he walked off.
"Was he? I wasn't paying attention." I said folding my hands over my menu and looking up at her
"Are you ladies ready?" The waiter asked about 10 minutes later interrupting our laughing.
"I'll have the garlic shrimp Alfredo," I said handing him my menu and giving him a warm smile
"Sane thing for me." My mom added.
"You are a gorgeous young lady and your smile is so eye catching." He said staring at me.
"Thank you... Uh, David." I said finally taking notice of his name tag.
"David is my boyfriend's name," I added pridefully."He's a lucky guy because you're amazingly beautiful." He responded.
"Thank you." I blushed
He walked away still glancing back at me.
"You didn't learn that from me." My mom said smiling at me.
"Learn what?" I asked sipping my margarita
"That flirting." She said
"Ok mommy, I can't lie to you," I said looking down.
"David and I slept together. That's why I left the youth department at the church. I didn't want to tell you because I know you and daddy expect so much from me. I know Faith and Ashlynn look up to me and I'm not a good role model if I'm having premarital sex. " I said catching a tear before it rolled under the rim of my glasses."I admit I'm disappointed in you but a mother knows and I knew... I was just waiting for you to tell me. I have a mothers instinct." She said with pride.
"No, you have Lanea," I said smirking.
"Well her too." She added.
We finished talking and walked out to the parking garage.
"Hello, Hannah." My biological mother said leaning against my car smirking.
"What do you want?" I asked holding back so many emotions.
