I was in a trance. I couldn't look away from him. He was so captivating. So addicting. I couldn't exactly describe it, but there was something about him that made him extremely likable. Once you started talking to him, you realized how amazing and in depth his personality was.
"Are you okay?" He asked, interrupting my thoughts.
A scarlet blush spread across my face.
"I-I'm fine! It's just that..." I was at a complete loss for words.
"What?"
"Your eyes are really pretty..."
"Yes, you've told me that before,"
"W-well that's because they are! Such a beautiful blue color and really sparkly, honestly!" I tried to get out of the awkward situation. "Do you want something to drink? Some water?" I suggested, desperately trying to leave the room.
"Um, sure," He replied. It sounded more like a question than a statement.
I rushed out of the room, hiding my face in embarrassment.
What were you thinking? That was completely idiotic! Your eyes are pretty? He's gonna think you're hitting on him!
The stairs creaked as I hurried down them.
"Lovino!" I called as I reached the kitchen.
"What is it? And stop yelling, bastard," He replied rubbing his temples.
"Well, I have this boy over and he's gonna spend the night and I feel like there's a lot of awkward sexual tension between us and I don't know what to do! Please help me Lovino! Please! I'm begging you!" I pleaded, half-whispering.
"Ugh, shut up. Your voice gives me a real headache,"
"Please! I need your help!" I begged, my eyes beginning to sting.
"You don't have to cry about it, you idiot. I'll help, but only because you seem to care a great deal about this stupid boy,"
"Ah! Really? Thank you!" I beamed, running over to hug him.
He cleared his throat and pushed me off. "So, do you think he likes you back?"
I thought for a few seconds, and I remembered the time he blushed when I hugged him. So I responded with a maybe.
"So, try to kiss him, I guess," He pondered, as if it was the obvious thing to do.
"Are you crazy?" I whisper-screamed.
"Listen to me. Just lean in until your faces are," He made about a three-inch gap between his hands, "that far apart. Maybe try to use a pick up line or something? And then kiss him. I don't really know about guys, but it usually works with ladies," He explained, a dead serious look on his face.
I took a deep breath, thinking of all the possible things that could go wrong. It certainly was crazy advice, but my brother was older, and more experienced.
"Okay. If this goes wrong, I'm holding you responsible." I fretted, pouring two cups of water.
As I walked back up the stairs to my room, I felt shivers go down my spine. My heart was practically jumping out of my chest. I took a deep breath as I opened the door.
You can do this, Feli. No chickening out this time. You are not a coward.
I sat in the empty seat next to him and set down the glasses of water.
A pickup line.
"Hey, Ludwig. Look at me," I said, nervousness obvious in my voice.
He faced me, confused.
"There's something in your eye,"
"Oh," he murmured. "Where?"
"I-I'll get it," I stuttered.
Lean in close.
I could feel the heat radiating off of his face.
Kiss him.
