Welcome to all of you to round one the Sci-Fi Short Story Smackdown Challenge hosted by Ooorah. The title of this challenge is Lost World and the prompt simple:
It's the year 2815 and following a few hundred years of global warfare, Earth is pretty messed up.
You hear rumors of an island far below the 60th Parallel South whereupon a civilization has been untouched by the war. Upon your arrival though, you discover that not only has this civilization has been untouched by the war, it is also trapped time, and an incredibly messed up time at that!
The challenge is to put yourself into the shoes of an explorer and use at least five special prompt items.
To the judges:
I used the following items:
1 - A deck of playing cards with all the aces missing
2 - A digital camera containing pictures of a rather risque photo shoot
3 - A colt 1851 Navy Revolver
4 - A lemon tree
5 - A VW Beetle
6 - A pink neon sign, declaring that 'titties and beer' can be found within
7 - A long expired and unclaimed Google Play gift card
8 - An old Wurlitzer jukebox
The total word count is 4515.
Now without further ado, here is my story called "The Endless Summer Of Love"
