My last week of holidays had begun. I was so excited about expending the next five days going around New York, sightseeing and enjoying the American life!
Chris texted me if he could come in the afternoon to plan my week off. I texted him back a 'Yes, sure!' For God's sake, of course he could come. I tried to get ready as fast as I could.
"Ms. Hamilton, you have a visitor, Mr. Evans" the guard of the building called me.
"Yes, let him in please, thank you," I answered.
I was still a little nervous, even though we had spent yesterday afternoon together. "Hi Chris," I opened the door with a smile.
"Hey An," he said, raising his right hand, he was carrying two white paper bags. "I brought some food".
"Yayy!" I did a little dance letting him in.
"Oh my God, I love this" I said as I opened the bag finding a delicious 'Bang Bang Chicken Wrap' and a Brownie Bite from 'Pret A Manger'. This man owns my soul.
"I knew it, that's why I brought it," he replied laughing at my reaction.
I love Pret, I used to go there with my friends after classes to eat some good, healthy and delicious food in London. I hadn't had the idea to go there in the five days I'd been in New York, but Chris made my cravings go nuts and I'm loving him for that.
"What do you mean you knew it?" I asked curious.
"You seem like a person who would love this kind of food?" he said not believing himself.
I shrugged. "Ookay, you have a good eye then," I giggled.
We ate while planning the week. 'This man should be bored as hell to take me on a freaking tour,' I thought, the same way I did in the plane when he talked to me.
And I decided to ask. "Are you free this whole week? I mean, are you coming with me or am I doing this all stuff on my own?".
He looked at me, smirking. "Of course I'm free, that's why I offered myself as a guide, An," he answered with a small laugh.
"Okay so, tomorrow we're gonna visit Manhattan," Chris began to write the 'to do list'. "No, we should leave it for the end of the week. Let's start with the boring stuff," he said adding a note that read 'Manhattan on Friday'.
I laughed at the sudden change of plans. "So, tomorrow to the Statue of Liberty, that's amazingly boring," he rolled his eyes.
"But the view must be beautiful," I argued.
"Oh yes, for sure," he replied with no expression on his face.
"Then the zoos and botanical gardens, we can have lunch there," he spoke as he wrote everything down.
After an hour or so, we managed to plan everything. The white paper where he was writing ended up full of ink everywhere. I could barely understand what was written, Chris was a mess.
We talked a lot, like we were old friends. It was a bit strange for me, to be honest. We laughed, we made jokes to each other and we both enjoyed the whole afternoon. It was 8 pm already, and Chris had to get going because I was about to fall asleep on the dining bar.
"Oh An, I'll let you have some sleep. You must be exhausted," his said caressing my head that was already on the marble bar.
"Thank you Chris for bringing me some Pret, for planning my week, for everything!" I spoke raising my head from the bar.
"It's nothing, little friend, everything to make you feel better and to distract yourself here without your family." he replied.
Little friend. That didn't feel so bad, I mean maybe I didn't like him that much to feel bad. In fact, we couldn't have something else than a friendship, he was 13 year older than me. A serious relationship was almost impossible, utopic. So okay, let's be friends.
