Chapter 5

Vanessa POV

School was finally over. It was crazy quiet today. No fights, no yelling, or trouble. I'm just glad its over so I can go check on Sky.
So I pull up after that quiet 15 minute drive to her house and rang the doorbell.

No answer.

I rang it 2 more times. No answer.

"Sky, come answer the door!"

Still no answer. Sky isn't feeling well so she couldn't answer so I walk around to the garage to see if any cars are there. I'm guessing that her mom and Carter are still gone on vacation. But I see Kris' truck there, so finally when I realized that his stupid ass was in the house and just didn't want to answer, I grabbed the emergency key from under the bush on the left side of the front door and went inside. It was so quiet, you could here a pen drop. I went upstairs and saw thay Kris's door was open a little so I peeped in. He had his Beats on but you could hardly hear any music. You little bastard. You know you heard me. I said to myself. I walked across the hall to Sky's room. Her door was closed so I quietly opened it to go in.

"Sky?" I call her name trying to wake her up.

"Sky, wake up. Its me Vanessa."

I see her move and start to shake saying "get away from me you monster" over and over again. She cries quietly.

"Sky, what are you talking about? What monster? Get up Sky."

I think she's having a bad dream I think to myself.

"Sky? Wake up!" I begin to shake her. She gets from under the covers and turns around slowly, squinting her eyes.

"Sky, thank God you woke up. I just came to--" I stop myself.

"What the hell happened to your face!? I said, noticing her swollen jaw, busted lip, and black eye.

She looked at me and then looked above me, but didn't say a word. I started to say something but I feel like someone is watching me. I turn around to see Kris standing at the door looking suspicious.

"Sky what happened to your face? He said.

She looked at him with a scared look. She answered quickly.

"I fell in the shower. That's all." As she said that, Kris left.

Something seemed a little off about Kris. I don't know what it is but I'm just not feeling his vibe...

"You didn't just fall in the shower with bruises like that. I want the truth now!" I raised my voice a little.

"That is the truth!..." she hesitated, "I promise..."

And with that, I got off the subject and got on a different topic.

"Pack enough clothes for a week. You're coming with me." I said in a stern voice.

She did as I said and we went to the car. She went back inside to get her toothbrush & a bar of soap.

"You got everything?" She nodded yes.

"We're not done with this yet. I didn't buy that excuse. AT ALL. I know when something's up about family, I can feel it because none of this adds up." I thought. I drove off.

Sky POV (Sky in MM)

I don't think Vanessa bought that "I fell in the shower" story. I couldn't tell her because Kris walked in a gave me the death stare and I knew what that meant. I just want to tell everybody that this dirty fucker raped me. But I can't. Vanessa wants me to stay with her for a week. That is just what I needed.. to get away from him. This Morning just keeps coming back to my mind... my own step-brother raped me. He planned this all...

I went back in to get my toothbrush and bar of soap when I got stopped by Kris.

"Smart choice of answer.. but remember." He said as he imitated a knife with his hand and drug it across his neck.

My heart started beating as I thought of what he would do to me.

"Bye baby" He did an evil smirk and winked me. This motherfucker... I quickly snapped out of my thoughts and left.

Vanessa POV

We arrived my house and went inside. I showed Sky the guest bedroom, which was my parents room but they left to go somewhere 2 years ago but never came back. Me and R.J. has been on our own ever since. Its still a mystery yet to be discovered.

"You can sleep in here. The bathroom is across the hall, the kitchen is all yours, and my room is down the hall to your left if you need me." She nodded and went to go get in the tub.

I went back to my room to get my pajamas ready for my shower. I got my clothes and went to the bathroom downstairs.

**1 hour & 45 minutes later**

I was sitting down on my bed when I noticed that Sky has been in the bathroom for a long time. I heard the sound of Al Green coming from the bathroom. "Im so tired of being alone, Im so tired of being alone" I knock on the bathroom door but no answer. I opened the door, which was unlocked, and I was in shock looking at my cousin floating in the bathtub face down. I quickly rush to flip her over and managed to drag her out out. I check her pulse. She has a pulse but its very weak.

"SKY, WAKE UP !!! WAKE UP !!!" I scream in fear.

I grab her phone and call 911. I told them my address and they explained that they'll be here right away. *5 minutes later* I heard knocking on the door. I rush down and lead them to where she was. They put her on a gurney and put her in the ambulance.

"Take care of her! Im on my way" I screamed to the paramedics as they pull off.

I go back into the house and wake up R.J. who had his earphones in his ears, blasting music and was knocked out asleep in his gaming chair.

"What's going on?" He says yawning and taking out his earphones.

"No time to explain, hurry and put on your shoes and lets go!"

He put on his Nike slides and I grab my purse. We get into the car and head to the hospital. I explained everything to R.J. that happened and we arrive at the hospital. We walk in and I spot the clerk at the desk.

"Im looking for Skylar Morgan." I said anxiously.

"Are you family?" She asked, not looking up from the computer.

"Yes Ma'am, I'm her cousin Vanessa Morgan."

She paused and looked up at me, then called a doctor's name on the intercom.

"Dr. Moore please come to the front desk, Dr. Moore come to the front desk."

About 3 minutes later, I spot a Doctor coming towards the front desk.

"Dr. Moore, this is Vanessa Morgan, family of Skylar Morgan." The clerk said.

The doctor looked at me with a sign of depression on his face. My heart started to get heavy.

"Hi, I'm Dr. Moore. And I assumed you're the one that called an ambulance?" I nodded.

"Well, Mrs. Morgan, Im terribly sorry but Mrs. Skylar Morgan........
