My husband is dead. And In some absolutely stupid decision making I am currently standing at the edge of the window sill of my quaters.
I have made up my mind to jump out. Since my quarters overlook the Palace temple, there is not much activity around there at such an ungodly hour of the night except for the night guards scattered about doing their duty.
My quaters is only on the first floor, so it won't be too much of a fall if I jump from here. And luckily there is grass on the pavement, so it should cushion my fall to a small extent.
On an ordinary day I would never do something like this at all. I am generally too upitty for petty adventure and dirtying my clothes. But currently I am in quite an unfortunate situation. I have a last night to live, and I don't want the last night of my life to be locked up in a quarters full of decoration I don't even like.
So yes, my plan is to escape outside and spend my time reconnecting with the nature around the palace. I always loved plants and flowers, so what better way than their company to spend my last few hours with. My eyes suddenly sting with tears at the thought of what twist my fate has taken, but I wipe them away. I have vowed to not let the sadness of the situation hinder my last night.
With a deep breath and a silent prayer to god, I take the leap. "Oh..." I hiss as I land on my knee. I felt a scratch against my skin and I am pretty sure I have a small wound, but as long as its not bleeding, it can't deter me. I pick myself up and dust my saree.
Yes, I had also taken the liberty of changing from my night cotton saree into a fancier brocade saree in peacock green colour. I wasn't going to spend my last night alive in drab clothes, afterall.
But I was too lazy to put on jewellery so I didn't bother and let the two single bangles on my wrist stay, as well as the small gold jhumki's in my ear.
As I reach the royal garden, I suddenly see the silhouette of a man sitting on a bench facing the orangery.
No guard is allowed inside at this hour. Either this man is trouble or he is going to be in trouble after I confront him. I make my way toward him with silent steps, almost not breathing. But when I am merely four steps away from him, he swiftly turns and takes a defensive stance.
"You!" I gasp. All my confidence melts into fear as I watch my kidnapper's alert face morph into a small smile.
"Me." His smile disappeared now. Oh my god. I should have never stepped outside my quaters. Please, save me this time. Please bhagwan ji.
Waise bhi kal apke hi pas aa rhi hun bas ek aur raat chain ke de dijiye.
"Who the hell let you in!" I scream and Immediately he puts a hand to my mouth. I bite his palm.
"What the hell!" He gasps retracting his arm, he flexes his hand as if trying to dodge the pain.
But this time I have learnt my lesson, so instead of trying to show bravery with this lunatic kidnapper, I make a run for it. After the news I heard today, I really do not have the patience in me to try to do anything but save myself. At the very least, I refuse to be killed by this man.
