Jason Grace had just witnessed the love of his life die.
Piper's screams still rung in his ears as he descended to where she had fallen; yelling her name until his throat was raw. Searching the ground area for any clues or things Piper had left behind, Jason came across a huge grey feather, caked in mud. He took the feather and whistled for Tempest, and climbed up onto the storm spirit's back with his jaw set and eyes determined.

After a good two hours of searching for his girlfriend, Tempest was getting irritable and restless from the long flight across the forest, and roughly landed to shake Jason off of his back.
Jason landed hard on his knees as Tempest took off into the sky.
"Some help you are!" Jason called out to the spirit angrily, wiping dirt  from his clothes.
He ambled around the forest, listening carefully for any signs of movement or threat. Stopping in the middle of a mossy clearing, Jason strained his ears and could hear a distant clanging further out, like a sword. He ran quickly and silently, dodging trees and boulders until ducking behind a large oak in front of a small circle of grass. Carefully looking over his shoulder, Jason saw no other than Piper, slashing katropis menacingly at a creature that he could barely see out of the corner of his eye with a furious expression on her beautiful face.
Jason breathed a sigh of relief to see she wasn't hurt. He peeked around the corner to assess what monster she was facing to plan a form of attack. Immediately, he wished he hadn't.
Hovering there, inches from the ground was the ugliest harpy Jason had ever seen, and that was saying something. Obviously it wasn't friendly like Ella as it beat it's huge and filthy grey wings to stay airborne, snarling at Piper's sword as it swished inches from her terrible face.
Jason drew his gladious and dashed around the tree stabbing at the harpy as Piper stared in shock at his sudden intrusion. He got millimeters away from impaling the monster when it roughly grabbed him by the ankle and held him up above her head.
"I need the blood of Aphrodite!" the harpy screeched in his face.
"Well you ain't getting it!" Piper yelled back.
Jason conjured up strong winds to loosen the harpy's death grip but plummeted promptly to the ground as the monster's clawed hands turned into a heap of golden dust.
He recovered his balance quickly and ran over to Piper, who reached him first and hugged him tight.
"Don't you ever disappear like that again, you gave me a heart attack,"
Jason whispered to her. Piper laughed feebly at him.
"Come on Superman, let's get you cleaned up."
They walked down to a small stream and Jason washed off the surprising amount of mud he had managed to get on himself. Piper drew a shocked gasp behind him, and he looked up to see the mist above the stream shimmering to form the face of his best friend smirking at him from a room filled with toolboxes and machinery.
