The morning sun filtered through the blinds of the small intimate diner, casting streaks of light across the table where Xaier sat, his jaw tight and his eyes heavy with suspicion.
Across from him, Princess sat as well, swirling her straw in her iced coffee, her pink nails clicking against the glass in an absent rhythm as she eyed him just as hard as he did her.
Princess looked Xaier up and down, smirking a little at the way his jaw clenched as he sat across from her with his arms folded, a glare set in stone on his face. He was pissed of course given the situation he was put in a couple days ago, but he was cute. Really cute.
"You look good." Princess commented, breaking their silence, watching his jaw clench tighter once she said that.
"Don't fuckin' play with me Princess." X ignored the compliment. "Tell me what the fuck is goin' on for real, you got me out here getting chased by cops and now you sittin' here in my face after me not hearing from you since that day, eating pancakes and acting like shit good between us."
"I'm telling you, X," she sighed, rolling her eyes, ever since he showed up, he'd been hounding her trying to figure out whether or not she set him up and demanding answers she either didn't have or weren't willing to give. X wasn't sure.
"I had no idea the cops were gonna show up. You think I'd risk my whole operation like that? Come on. Only reason you didn't hear from me is because I was busy duh, and I thought your ass was off those drugs and talking crazy, but I see I was wrong." Princess shrugged, stabbing a fork into her sliced up pancake, and eating it.
Xaier leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table, ignoring the comment about him being on drugs. "I really don't know what to think right now, Princess. All I know is I was moving your shipment, and out of nowhere, 12 on my ass. So either you set me up, or you got sloppy."
Her lips curled into a small smile, but it didn't reach her eyes, she stopped mid bite as she looked at him almost threateningly. "Sloppy? Baby, you know better than that. You've seen how I run things—tight, clean, no loose ends. You weren't even supposed to be doing that delivery in the first place, we decided that last minute, so how is it me trying to set you up hm? If the cops were there, it wasn't because of me."
"Who was it then?" he shot back
Princess scoffed and let out a short laugh, "Maybe you oughta check with that girlfriend of yours. She wasn't supposed to be there in the first place ..." she muttered, lifting her coffee to take a slow sip of it.
"Watch yo fuckin' mouth, my girl was preparing for a date the whole damn day and she a down bitch. Don't do that weird shit tryna make me turn on her cause either way I still would love her ass." Xaier said, not even flinching while saying so because there really wasn't a thing in the world that could drive X's heart away from Ivory.
Princess sighed, setting her drink down with a soft clink. "Well look I don't know, I get why you're pissed. I'd be mad too if I were in your shoes. But think about it, if I wanted to set you up, why would I risk my shipment? My name's on that product X. If it gets caught whether it's you handling it or not, it's my loss too. Does that make sense to you?"
