Arabella D'Angelo is just a shell of a girl, a mere presence floating through the halls of her Los Angeles home. Her once bright grey eyes and sunshine-like spirit was crushed by the weight of her abusive parents.
Living in a constant state of fear...

The end of today's school day just wasn't coming to an end and I felt like banging my head against this damned room's wall.
History class dragged on as I leaned on my hand, staring blankly at the faded poster of ancient Rome on the wall. It was the last period of the day and exhaustion clung to the room like a heavy fog.
The only thing keeping me awake was the thought of going home, curling up on the couch with Ezekiel and binge-watching the new season of Squid Game he demanded we should watch together.
Elijah had promised takeout tonight, which made it even better, since I already had my heart set on pizza. Though it only had been two months since I knew about my Italian roots, it still didn't take much time for me to get obsessed with it's traditional foods.
But I had to get through this class first, I reminded myself and sulked into my seat.
Around me, the room buzzed with quiet conversations. The teacher, Mr. Bernard, sat slumped at his desk, looking like he would rather be anywhere else. His glasses were perched precariously on his nose as he scrolled through his tablet with the enthusiasm of someone grading essays at midnight.
Next to me, Estella leaned closer and whispered something to Adriana, her voice low but carrying an edge that meant she was about to reveal someone's secret again. I was squished between the pair of them like sandwich, but still enjoyed their warm company which made my life at school more bearable, fun even.
"You all wouldn't believe what I heard in the lockers room during gym yesterday." She shook her head, her movements slow and histrionic. "Asher rejected Gigi infront of everyone."
"Wait, what?" I almost gasped, much like Adriana and Felix, reminiscing how she was jumping up and down in the hallways even yesterday and flaunting about the millian dollar Rolex watch she got for him. "Don't tell me all that money went down the drain like that?"
"Asher is a scumbag, he got the watch and then rejected her. He even had the audacity to humiliate her infront of everyone by saying she is not his type." Estella grimaced.
"But didn't Gigi spat on our faces the other day by saying that we could never get a man like Asher and that she would marry him once they turn twenty?" Adriana snorted, stretching out her fingers. "That girl gets on my nerves."
"Tragic, though. I can't believe she would spent all that money behind a boy who barely even remembers her name." Felix curled his lips into a fake sad pout, which had Luciano grimacing at him. "Really, really tragic. I will send her my condolences the next time we meet her."
