Narrator: This is the exciting part, folks! Confession time is upon us, and the question is, who will confess first?  We've got a car accident, a month-long coma, and a whole lot of unspoken feelings.  Let's get back to the story.

"Ouch, my head hurts," Damian mumbled, his eyes fluttering open.  He blinked, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings.  He had no idea how he got here, where he was, or what had happened.  As he sat up in the hospital bed, a shadow fell over him.  Liam.

Liam's jaw dropped, his eyes wide with disbelief. "Damian! You're awake! I thought you might never wake up.  You've been in a coma for a month.  It was a bad car accident, you were trying to get home..."  Liam's voice trailed off, his worry evident.

Damian's lips curled into a wry smirk. "So you care for me, huh?"  He knew it was a stupid question, but he couldn't help himself.  He wanted Liam to say more, to confess something more than just friendship.

Liam's face flushed a deep crimson.  "Of course I do," he stammered. "You're my best friend."

Damian's smirk faded, replaced by a flicker of disappointment.  He closed his eyes, trying to ignore the sting of Liam's words.  He knew he shouldn't have expected anything more, but the hope had been there, burning brightly.  He was more than Liam's best friend.  He wanted to be so much more.

Few days later, Damian got discharged from the hospital.  He was feeling a lot better physically, but his mind was still clouded by Liam's words.  The sting of rejection lingered, a persistent ache in his chest.  He couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing, a piece of his heart left behind.

On Monday, Damian finally found the courage to confront his feelings.  He spotted Liam across the hallway, his heart pounding in his chest.  "Are you doing anything after school?" he asked, a nervous smile tugging at his lips.

Liam looked up, a hint of confusion in his eyes. "None, why?"

Damian took a deep breath, his voice trembling slightly.  "Can we... Can we hang out later after school?  I need to tell you something."  He hoped his voice didn't betray the tremor in his hands.

Liam's face softened, a flicker of concern in his eyes.  "Sure, I'll see you after class then."  He waved goodbye and headed towards the classroom.

Damian watched him go, a wave of relief washing over him.  He had taken the first step.  But what about the next one?  He had to figure out how to tell Liam what was in his heart, how to express the feelings he'd kept hidden for so long.  He needed a plan, a way to say the words that would change everything.
