"Come on Iris, wake up."
Shaken by someone Iris woke up and then, as she opened her eyes saw a teenage boy, with black curly hair and emerald green eyes. It was Theodore, who snuck out of his bedroom in the early hours of the morning to come and bother her.
"Iris, please. Padme hasn't woken up yet, neither Anthony or Daphne have. We still have time to practise." Theodore pleaded excitedly, while dragging her out of bed.
Iris groaned, "My god, Theo, it's only six in the morning, are you out of your mind?!" she answered, still half asleep.
Theodore guided her to her bathroom and threw some clothes inside for her to change. Annoyed, Iris went into the bathroom and after getting dressed she went out wearing a long-sleeved blouse and her hair tied in a ponytail.
"At last!, Iris, I thought you died in that bathroom." Theo joked, he was leaning on a wall, waiting for her next to the door, waiting impatiently to go out.
Theodore then grabbed her hand and together they went into the corridors of the palace. All the guests stayed in a wing further away from the royal bedrooms, but as they were the only guests who lived there, everything was still silent. Iris would be leaving in a few weeks because her year in Naboo with the Amidala sisters was about to end. Whereas Theodore would stay, as he was the son of an important pilot in Naboo's army and lived permanently in the palace.
They continued running until they got out of the castle grounds, just before entering the woods. The sky still cast some dark blue shadows and inside the forest it was gloomy and a bit foggy, with only quiet sounds of birds. Theodore guided her into the deepest parts of the forest but both knew where they were headed, a secret place which only they knew about. As they were running Iris finally felt awake when the chilly air of spring struck her face.
"Can we slow down? It's not like we won't have time, the sun is only beginning to rise." Iris told Theo, trying to make him slow the pace, just walk and not rush headlong.
Theo stopped a bit and replied jokingly," Are you scared because the forest is dark? Don't worry Ris, I'll protect you."
Iris just sighed, she hated the nickname Theo gave her, as well as his attitude sometimes. "Just stop running Theo, I'm not afraid of the dark and I'd rather protect myself." She only said, annoyed.
He just laughed and nodded while they slowed the pace and walked through the forest. In the distance the trees cleared up and the weak sun beam illuminated a tiny meadow. As they approached the clearing a lake was revealed, with the most translucent water that Iris had seen ever. This little secret place was known only to both of them, Theo discovered it first when he was younger. He loved running around and playing with Anthony, but most of the time Anthony was scared of going too deep into Naboo's forest and getting lost, so Theo explored the woods by himself.
When Iris first came earlier this year, she was amazed by Nabbo's immensity and always had curiosity for the surroundings. So Theodore seized the opportunity and quickly introduced himself to her and they became good friends.
"Great, I wanted to arrive earlier but as you wanted to walk we'll have to start right now." Theodore said a bit sarcastically, dropping the backpack he was carrying since leaving the palace.
Some months ago Theo showed some signs of being a force user and seeing that, Iris made the mistake of telling him she was one too. From that moment Theo insisted that she train him to become a decent rival for her one day and fight together all the problems they would encounter. What they didn't know was how their paths would intertwine and later in life meet again. Not quite the way they pictured it...
