3rd Person POV:
It was the routine everyday for Y/N. Wake up, buy flowers, go to the cemetery. She wore the usual outfit that she couldn't bring herself to get out of; sweats and Jenna's old hoodie.
Y/N left the house around the same time - 8:30 am - and drove to the nearest flower shop. She always got a variety of flowers since Jenna never had a favorite one, she believed that all the flowers were beautiful.
Y/N was back in the car, driven to the cemetery. She arrived at the tombstone, brushing her fingers over the engraved name.
Jenna Marie Ortega
September 27, 2002 - February 23, 2024
"Risking is better than regretting."
Y/N would stare at the tombstone for hours on end. The tears fell like a waterfall, it felt almost never ending to her. It had been almost a whole year since the love of her life passed away.
She sat in the same old diner after visiting Jenna. She ordered her usual; a cup of black coffee and banana bread. Only this time, something had changed her routine.
"Hey, you look a bit lonely. Is it alright if I sit?" A tall woman with dark brown hair and glistening hazel eyes beamed down at Y/N. Her smile was calming and easing.
"Uh sure." Y/N cleared her throat, gesturing to the other seat across from her in the booth.
"I'm Kylie Ramirez, and you are?" The girl introduced herself.
"Y/N Ortega."
Kylie looked out the window, admiring the wind that blew through Los Angeles. "It's a pretty lonely day, isn't it?" Y/N merely nodded, sipping her coffee. "Want to go for a walk? We could get to know each other?"
With the offer, Y/N decided that there was nothing better that she would be doing than this. The pair stood up, pairing their bill and leaving the diner.
They walked along the cemented path near the river walk park. "I lost my wife two years ago too." Kylie confessed after Y/N opened up about Jenna. "She was and still is my entire world, you know? I miss her everyday."
"I miss my wife too." Y/N mumbled sadly, accompanying Kylie on an empty bench. "My wife used to wake up every morning with pancakes in her hands. She said, 'a pancake a day keeps the heartache away' and she was always right about that."
Kylie chuckled. "That's cute. My wife was vegan and there was a certain dish that she always made. It was my favorite."
"Do you remember what it was?"
"It's a uh vegan Alfredo pasta bowl with vegetables." Kyle hummed, licking her lips as she reminisces on the dish. "It was amazing."
"Jenna didn't always cool, but the main dish that I loved from her was her spaghetti. It's basic, I know, but when she made it, it was always better than any other bowl of spaghetti I've ever had." Y/N rubbed her eyes, staring at the clouds above them.
"She sounds really nice." Kylie glanced at the girl.
"She was." Y/N mumbled, smiling a bit up at Kylie. "Your wife seemed nice too."
"She really was."
A silence washed over them as the peaceful sounds of children playing on the playground, the birds squawking in the distance, the breeze blowing through their hair, and the cars driving nearby.
Y/N's hand fell on the bench, accidentally brushing against Kylie's. Both girls glanced at each other before chuckling, removing their hands simultaneously to their laps. Shy smiles took place on their face.
From behind them, stood the ghost of Jenna Ortega and Kylie's wife, Sarah Parker.
"You think they'll get the hint to move on soon?" Jenna asked Sarah, sitting down and admiring her wife with tears in her eyes.
"I hope so." Sarah's voice cracked a little. "I don't want my Kylie to be alone forever because she was so hung up on me."
"I never wanted to leave my Y/N, you know?" Jenna looked at Sarah, tears slipping down their cheeks. "I love her so much and I hope she knows that it's okay to move on."
"They'll learn." Sarah scooted closer to Jenna, wrapping her arm around her shoulders. "They'll know soon enough."
