Vada's POV:

Today was the day I got back from my AA retreat center. I started about a month ago so I could be sober completely from drugs and alcohol. Mostly for my girlfriend.

I didn't realize the damage I was doing or causing until she almost walked out on me. I begged and pleaded and yearned for her to stay. Y/N caved. She did, but with the catch of me getting professional help. So with a sigh, I agreed.

And now I'm coming back home. It's supposed to be a surprise. I have a sash with my AA chips to mark my progress. I brought it to show proof to Y/N. She doesn't know I'm coming home yet, but my family does.

So I come home to them first, then go see my baby.

The second I stepped off the bus, my parents were outside with my sister, Amelia. I wasn't a physical touch person, although I couldn't help but hug them so tightly. I was afraid to lose them again.

My sister clung to my torso, mom held me head carefully like I was still a baby, and dad's arms were long enough to wrap around us all. "We're so proud of you." Mom whispered when we broke up the hug.

I cracked a smile. "Thank you." I said back, softly and genuinely. "I am so grateful for your help. This sobriety center really helped me. They got me back on track."

"That's wonderful." Dad grinned, chuckling.

"Yeah, we missed you and your fart jokes." Amelia said, smiling but I could see she was trying not to cry.

"I know I just got here, but..."

"You need to see Y/N." Mom finished my sentence. I nodded feebly. She smiled and spun her car keys on her finger. "I'll take you to see her. Dad has to get your celebration cake anyway."

Then we were off. I sat in the car anxiously. Tons of questions rang through my head. What if she found someone better? What if she's still mad? What is she doesn't want me back?

I couldn't dwell much longer since we arrived. Mom said she'll stay outside for me until I'm done and for me to take my time. So I walked up to the door, knocked, and was greeted by the one face I needed to see the most.

"Vada..." Y/N spoke in shock, eyes glazing over me. "You look so healthy." A smile formed on her lips as she cupped my face.

"Baby, I missed you so much." My voice cracked and I crashed into her arms completely. I almost made her fall. Though I kept her stabilized in my arms. I sobbed into her neck. "I'm sorry for everything I did. But I'm better, I'm better now." I pulled away and showed her my sash. "See? I've been sober for a whole month and a half."

"I'm so proud of you, love." Y/N spoke wholeheartedly. "This is all I needed you to do."

"I did it for you." I whispered and finally kissed those sweet lips that I've been dreaming about every night I go to sleep. I held her waist with such gentle care, securing her forever so I never let her go again.

"I love you." She whispered against my lips.

I grinned widely. "I love you, too."
