"To be honest, doctor, I was just as shocked and horrified as you are now, but I realized how insignificant this all is."
"Oh, really? How did you come to that conclusion?"
"Well, I'm a bit of a book nut I love to read all of the time and gather information, but as you can imagine all those books start to pile up and it's quite expensive to get new ones, so I usually spend my days reading articles on the Internet. It's surprising how much you can learn just soaking in all this information. That's why I call this little dilemma we have a trivial matter. Do you know how many people die every year?"
"No, I don't."
"55.3 million"
"Is that so?"
"Yes, that's almost two people every second. Nobody cares about them. There go another two. And some more right there. Why does it matter when or how we die. Death is inevitable for us all. My wife understood all this perfectly. So what if some are murdered and others die by drowning or even by a bolt of lightning, it makes no difference in the long run."
"So you believe killing someone is okay?"
"Murder, such a funny word. By definition it means, and I quote, 'the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another.' Now, would you say I murdered my wife?"
"I'm not certain of anything. Did you murder your wife?"
"No, of course not I saved her."
"Saved her from what?"
"Life."
