"So, what is your story?" I asked her as I wrapped my arms around her from behind.

"I don't want to talk about the past," She replied lowering her head looking at the ground

"Precisely why it should be talked about. If it's causing you this much pain I don't want it to continue"

"It just hurts to talk about my past. My family was never much of a complete one... It still isn't much to look at even now."

"I know... I'm here for you... You're family to me. You're my closest friend."

"I know you are, but I've still a lot of bad memories."

"So do I. You know that, and you also know you have nothing to hide from me."

"Sometimes I wonder how I ended up here after all that has happened."

"Talk to me darling. We've both hidden some things about our past but not any longer. No more can we hide the things we hate about ourselves. I need you to be open, and I'll do the same for you."

With a gentle kiss on the cheek we both sat down and discussed our past both the good and the bad. We must have talked for several hours, but by the time we had shared our memories the sun was just starting to peek over the horizon and thus started a new day.

I walked home down the dusty trail tired from being up all night, but I continued on doing the days chores, and working on a potato cannon I had begun to make with my best friend Mark before he moved to the suburbs a few weeks ago. After the darkness had come to cover the sky again I walked into my room and checked my email one time before I went to bed. I only had one message in my inbox, from her of course. I opened it and all it contained was a picture of a solitary heart colored in vibrant shades of read. I smiled lightly and replied, "vous et mon coeur." And with that I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep. I had no idea what what was about to happen that would change my world forever.

(Another tale that is short but sweet. I may talk in detail about what their history is later, but that is for another time.)
