Pond

I was walking down the familiar paved path around the pond with the woman of my dreams next to me, young, fair, yet brilliant and wise; she was the best I had ever loved. Though it was a cold, cloudy winter day, we still managed to smile and enjoy one another's accompaniment, and her hair blew gently with the wind. Without a word we walked along with every breath turning into a serene fog slowly drifting away as we walked around the pond. The pond was mostly a dark blue, almost black, with an occasional fragment of rose-red beneath the small waves that seemed to only reflect a small bit of light, but that never bothered her because, as she had once said, "I know it's black now but I hold hope for what it may become." We continued on and came to a old rope bridge with wood planks in-between that cut across the pond to the other side; it was an odd crossing because the wood seemed to float gently on the top of the water yet never sank when they were tread on. As we walked across feeling the air growing colder near the water, I glanced to my left and I saw the cattle I had built. It was small for a castle, only about the size of two houses. But it held some of my most precious treasures. We made it across the bridge and continued walking down the paved path and I knew where we would be travelling to as it was her favorite spot to see. All of a sudden another woman came up behind us and interrupted our silence. She had rose-red hair with shades of brown, and her eyes too had an almost amber hue and seemed to slowly drift from black to red and back again like the waters of the pond. At first I thought she was a ghost because of the way she seemed to move, but she had a strange familiarity about her that I could not seem to determine. I looked at her as she spoke with my love, and I could not shake the uneasy feeling that I had seen her before. The three of us walked along the paved path as it twisted and turned through the forest moving slowly away from the shore. The girl with red hair only seemed interested in talking to my love, and ignored me entirely, which was all the same to me seeing as to how I did not trust her. We continued walking, and they just kept talking and talking almost too much for my liking. Suddenly, we came to a fork in the road that had not been there previously. I stopped and told my love that we ought to continue down the left path that we knew, yet the red haired woman insisted that we go down to the right as it lead us back to the pond's shore and show us a new place that we had never seen before. I tried to convince my lover not to go down that way to continue down our path, but she did not want to listen. She no longer listened to what I said, and she turned away from to the other woman with a smile. I knew what this meant, the gravity of what was about to happen, and I realized that this would be the end. As they walked closer to the new path, I felt my hope sinking. As my love crossed over the continuing down the path, I dropped to my knees and screamed out in agony as it felt like my heart was being ripped from my body and thrown light-years away, and the coldest gust of wind I have ever felt came bursting through the forest. Neither of them noticed. Neither of them cared. Neither of them turned around. They both continued on...

I felt the devastation coursing through my veins, so I ran. I ran down our path that we had made together and over to the same spot we had spent hours at before, and I saw the flowers everywhere and they reminded me of her. I knelt down beside a three violet flowers, and I began to cry soaking the ground with my tears. I wept bitterly going through every memory that I had of her as they slowly began to fragment and dissipate. I could not stand the thought of losing her to this lady born of the evil lake, but it was too late. I looked up and saw the two them walking through the trees. I cried out, "DARLING!" But the one I loved so dearly could not hear; she didn't even look up. She was captive. It was too late. I knew I couldn't go after her. Feeling her memories slip away from my mind I quickly opened the small box I always carried with me. I began to cry again, and felt agonizing pain return. I felt scars forming across my back that felt like lashes from a whip, as I slowly pulled up the first of the three flowers. I cried harder feeling the pain, and I pulled up the second flower. My head hurt excruciatingly as I tried to hold onto the memories that me and my love had so fondly shared. The bitter cold wind blew harder now, and I pulled up the third violet flower. Suddenly, it felt like every bone in my body had just broken. I screamed in pain as I managed to place the flowers in the little box and closed it tight... Then, silence. The wind had stopped blowing. The trees were not moving. It was dead calm....

(This is also an ending and you may want to stop, but if you wish to continue reading there is more...)

I knew it was over. My love was gone. I could no longer see either of them walking through the forest.... I slumped over feeling my heart worn and wishing death would take me. I laid there for what seemed like an hour. I finally slowly got up not letting go of the small box of our memories. I walked slowly back the way we had come. There was no fork in the road now. I could not even tell where it had been. I just continued on till I came to the bridge we had crossed earlier. It, along with my hopes, had sunk beneath the waves... I stood there in silence looking... Unexpectedly, I saw the red haired woman across on the other side. She was singing a familiar song, and she stepped out onto the water hovering on top of it. She continued walking toward me, yet I stayed silent. When she was about midway across the pond, I could no longer hold back. "DEMON," I screamed at the top of my lungs. She slowly looked up at me, and without a word, she vanished into the water...

(Another ending :) but there's a little bit more)

I, still feeling the pain, walked all the way to my castle alone.... I came up to it, and unlocked the castle door. I walked into the giant room and slowly set the box with our memories inside it down on a pedestal. I sighed and turned to look around at the countless number of boxes sitting around the dimly lit castle. And with one last glance, I shut the door behind me.

(THE LAST ENDING)

Please comment or message me or something as to where I should end this story.... I really don't know where to stop it. Side note: this is based off of a dream I had.
