Never ever
I don't care about that
I don't want to stick to that
I'll turn away, hypnotizing myself

AUTHOR POV:

The courtroom was an oppressive space, the heavy wooden panels and cold marble floor amplifying the weight of the moment. The air was thick with tension, every sound—shuffling papers, whispers—seeming to echo louder than it should. Jungkook sat at the defendant's table, his face unreadable, but his knuckles whitened as they gripped the edge of the table. Beside him sat Namjoon, Yoongi, Jin, and Eunwoo were checking some papers and files.

The sound of the doors opening broke the murmurs in the room. All eyes turned as the plaintiffs entered—the couple who had filed the custody case. Jungkook's in-laws. The air seemed to shift as they walked confidently to their seats, their lawyers carrying an air of superiority.

Eunwoo leaned toward Jungkook and whispered, "Stay calm. We knew this was coming." Jungkook nodded stiffly, his gaze fixed forward, determined not to let their presence rattle him.

The judge entered, and everyone rose. The gavel struck, and the session began.

"This court is now in session for the custody hearing of Jeongchan Jeon," the judge declared, her voice firm and impartial.

The opposing lawyer stood, a predatory smile on his face.  "Your Honour, we are here to argue that the well-being of Jeongchan, the child in question, is not being adequately met under the care of Mr. Jeon Jungkook. While we acknowledge his financial provision, it is not sufficient to nurture the emotional and social development of a child."

Eunwoo stood, his voice measured. "Your Honour, we strongly refute this claim. Mr. Jeon has provided a stable home, a secure future, and unconditional love for his son. The evidence will show that he is more than capable of fulfilling his role as a parent."

The opposing lawyer smirked. "Love, Your Honour, is not the issue here. It's the lack of presence. We have records indicating that Mr. Jeon has consistently delegated parental responsibilities to his friends We question whether Mr. Jeon's lifestyle is conducive to raising a child."

The judge's gaze moved to Eunwoo. "Counselor, how do you respond to this?"

Eunwoo straightened. "Your Honour, Mr. Jeon's friends involvement is that of a supportive family friends, not a replacement for Mr. Jeon. My client's work schedule ensures that he can provide the best for Jeongchan. Delegation of certain tasks does not equate to neglect."

The opposing lawyer's expression sharpened. "Then perhaps Mr. Jeon can answer directly." They turned to Jungkook. "Mr. Jeon, how many of Jeongchan's school events or medical check ups have you attended in the past six months?"

Jungkook stiffened. "I've missed some due to work obligations, but—"

The lawyer cut him off. "How many, Mr. Jeon?"

"four" he admitted reluctantly.

The lawyer pounced. "four out of how many?"

Jungkook's silence spoke volumes. The opposing lawyer turned to the judge. "Your Honour," The opposing lawyer walked to the evidence table, retrieving a file. "this document highlights several key incidents that question Mr. Jeon's ability to prioritize his son."
