We stumbled out of the bar, giggling like a couple of idiots and hanging onto one another for support. Duff, Steven, and Slash fell out of the door behind us, all in various states of drunken bliss.
I was beaming from ear to ear and I felt as though my face was glowing, although I knew that my cheeks were just flushed from the alcohol. Still, that did nothing to stifle the joy that I felt in my heart, coursing through my veins.
The night out couldn't have gone any better than it had. Save for that one minor hiccup earlier, once the booze was flowing, everything went swimmingly. Steven and Slash did lines in the bathroom, Duff and Melody had a short-lived drinking contest (I had to cut her off when I realized that she was so competitive that she wouldn't stop), and I mainly remained my usual, wallflower-self and watched the antics with a smirk.
That is, until Melody got horribly plastered and decided that she could suddenly dance. Just like many girls I'd dated before, she forcibly dragged me out onto the dance floor. Unlike many girls I'd dated before, I let her. It was there that I fell for her all over again.
You know you truly love a gal when you see her disco dance to Stairway to Heaven and not give a fuck who's watching. Bless her deaf heart and her two left feet.
Through the sounds of my band mates' cheering and cat calls, we waltzed and jigged through song after song. We only stopped when the bar's manager came out to remind us that the bar would be closing in five.
Now, we were all heading off to our separate homes.
"That was such an awesome time!" Slash cheered, lifting his arms into the air for emphasis. "Your girl knows how to party! I love it, I love her, I love you!"
I rolled my eyes as he fell into us, wrapping us up in his arms and pulling us into a group hug.
"Watch your cigarette, stupid," I muttered, craning my neck away from the lit end of the cigarette that protruded from his lips.
"Fuck you, man. I just wanted to love you!" Slash whined, pulling us in tighter. I let out an annoyed groan, but Melody giggled hysterically and managed to pull us in together even tighter.
"I'm going to die...!" I gasped, trying to breathe despite the fact that Slash and my girlfriend were now crushing my ribs into my lungs.
"I want to be loved!" Steven cried, rushing at us and leaping onto Slash's back.
Slash grunted loudly and fell into me. Somehow, I managed to find the strength to keep us all standing, although I'm pretty sure I heard my spine crack a few times.
"Okay, okay. Let's let the love birds get home. They've got some drunken love-makin' to do. Am I right?" Duff chuckled, jabbing at my already aching ribs with his elbow.
"Whatever dude," I grumbled, wanting him to change the subject. I didn't want the guys to know I hadn't even had sex with Melody yet. Then they really might revoke my man card.
Still, I appreciated that he'd said it. Not long after he'd spoken, Slash and Steven released Melody and I from their vice grip. Melody, on the other hand, continued to cling onto me like a baby koala.
"In that case, have fun," Slash beamed at me and nodded. I watched him stumble off into the darkened parking lot, digging through his skin tight pockets for his keys and cursing under his breath.
"It was nice meeting you, Melody," Steven slurred, patting the top of her crimson curls.
When she didn't respond, he gazed up at me with a questioning look through bloodshot eyes. "Why isn't she listening to me? How rude!"
