(A/n look, a long over due chapter has appeared! References, they amuse me. To the end we shall go.)
Beckett opened her eyes slowly and blinked repeatedly longing for her eyes to adjust to the sunlight the filtered through the window. She felt something around her waist, something warm. She thought back to last night and smiled whole heartedly, turning and burying her face into castle chest all the while inhaling his scent.
"Good morning".
He said lovingly, his voice lacking any evidence of sleepiness witch made Kate assume he had been up for a while.
"Hi".
She replied, blushing slightly at there proximity but loving it all the same. They stared at each other for sometime, taking each others presence in. Castle was the first to break the silence.
"So, last night."
He said simply, waiting for her to carry the conversation further forward. She met his gaze, completely nervous about what he may say.
"I meant what I said."
She whispered quietly, biting her lower lip out habit. Castle's stomach flipped, taking notice of her actions. He ran his thumb over her lip, slowly bring her closer to him.
"So did I".
He could feel Kate relax immediately after he said it. Castle just caught the almost inaudible "thank god" that escaped her.
"What, you really thought that I didn't"?
"I, I don't know. I just, thought that maybe,"
She struggled to find the right words, eventually trailing off. She snuggled into his chest more, and he placed her head under his chin.
"Let me take you out Kate, any where you want. We could go for dinner, or lunch."
She grinned happily, not letting the fact that he called her by her first name slip her by. She nodded her head muttering an "okay" trying and failing miserably to hide how thrilled she really was. Neither of the two made any move to get up, they simply laid beside one and other, castle trying ever so hard to make Beckett laugh most of the time receiving only a eye roll but knowing she secretly found it all amusing. At some point they shifted positions, Kate was was now sprawled out over him, castle basically using her as a human blanket. They eventually conceded that food was desirable and slipped out of the nest like haven of blankets and pillows, shuffling into kitchen still side by side, refusing to part.
"Castle you are not making smorelettes for breakfast".
"Come on, I know you love them."
"Yah sure castle, because who doesn't love irrational amounts of cooked sugar first thing in the morning."
The decision of what they were going to eat had come to a instantaneous stop when the notion of smorelettes had arisen.
"But kaaaaaate",
Castle whined, truth be told he didn't even want smorelettes at that moment. But he loved to tease her and get under her skin. Beckett turned and stared at him glaring playfully, he tried to suppress the smile that was threatening to over take him. He apparently didn't do a good job because Kate saw through his facade right away.
"You're only doing this to piss me off".
Castle laughed nervously as she began to make her way towards him, a feral look in her eyes mixed with something else he couldn't place.
"Cast-",
Her speech was interrupted by the sounding off he phone, she gave him one last glare before rushing to answer her cell in time, he faintly heard her talking for about a minute before she exited her room.
"Castle we have a murder, go get dressed we leave in twenty minutes".
She stated before heading straight off towards the bathroom. Castle couldn't hold his tongue and let the comment slip out.
"You know we could leave sooner if we showered together".
He teased playfully.
"Next time castle".
Beckett said salaciously before she shut the door, leaving a slightly slack jawed male behind and grinning wildly while she leaned up against the door, thinking of all the things, all the possibilities of what was could happen. She came to one decisive conclusion, she gained a lot more then she lost by letting him in.
