(A/n so this chapter was inspired by a chapter of the FMC chronicles by Cora clavia on fanfiction.net. Now, let us venture forth.)
She was running, and running down street. Racing to get to castles loft. She phoned him for the umpteenth time, this time he picked up.
"You need to get out of your apartment castle!
She screamed into her cell as she pushed people out of her way.
"What? Why?"
He was confused, it didn't take a genius to figure it out.
"I'll explain once you get out"!
The loft came into view and felt a feeling of relief.
"Castle just ge-",
She was cut off by a sudden explosion. Flames engulfed castles home and the phone line went dead. Kate stood there mortified, only capable of thinking: he's dead and it's my fault, as she crumbled to the sidewalk, sobbing.
Beckett bolted up right in her bed, gasping for air, body dripping with sweat that was blanketing her body. She looked at her surroundings in a panicked daze. This is castles guest room. But his place blew up. He's dead. Isn't he? No. We watched a movie. We ate together. He's fine. So many things raced through her head she could not keep one thought long enough to fully process it. A loud boom and a flash of light made her jump. It came from out side, but she couldn't help but yelp. She turned her head towards the window and only noticed then the heavy down pour. Another boom sounded through out the room, this time Beckett managed to to stifle her scream into a small whimper. She ripped the covers off of her frame and stalked into the corridor. She needed to see him. She knew it was stupid but she need to make sure he was okay. She needed him. Another boom, another whimper. Panic seized her, ripping her apart from the inside out. She got down the stairs and headed straight for his bedroom door, opening it and staring at his sleeping figure. A crash rippled the air, more powerful and frightening then the last few. Kate was incapable of quieting the sob that left her.
"Beckett?"
A tired castle said and she put her full attention on him.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have, I was just, I didn't mean to".
She began backing away slowly. This was a stupid idea. She told herself. Castle flicked in his bed side light and looked at her.
"You're crying".
He stated his voice laced with concern and worry. Beckett turned away from him and began walking back towards the stairs, she only stopped when she felt castle grab her wrist. She didn't turn towards him, and she didn't dare speak, not trusting her voice.
"Beckett what's wrong"?
She didn't respond, Beckett just stood there shaking.
"Beckett, look at me".
Castle said his voice now pleading.
"Kate".
That got her attention, she turned but kept her eyes to the ground trying to avoid looking at him. Castle picked up on this almost instantly, grabbing her chin lightly and turning her head to face his. Thunder broke the silence, he didn't think anything of it, Kate on the other hand had another sob escape her mouth at the noise. Castle pulled her into him and ran a hand through her hair. She began crying without control, violently shaking.
"Kate, are you, I mean, the storm?"
He fumbled with his words not wanting to upset her more. Lightning struck close by followed by intense rumbling and her knees gave out. Castle held her tight not allowing her to fall to the ground.
"It's okay. You're safe. Everything is fine my love".
After about ten minutes The storm subsided and Kate calmed down, finally able to get her breathing under control. They stood there together, castle still running his hand through her hair soothingly, Kate thought about every thing that had just transpired when she realized, he called her love.
