As they sat together on the couch Ghei's eyes never left Miro. She waited patiently for her to open up, her expression shows softness and encouragement.
Miro took a deep breath and pushed her words out even though is hard for her.
"Ghei, hindi ko na talaga alam.Pagod na ako sa buhay ko. Feeling ko ang bigat lang."
"Family problems and personal problems has been burning me out and....."
"...her"
Ghei nodded, her eyes filled with understanding.
"I think I know what you mean, Miro."
Miro stared at her, feeling a lump form in her throat.
"Buhay ako pero hindi ko alam kung para saan pa. Pakiramdam ko patapon na talaga ako. Noong namatay si Dad..." Miro choked up. Ghei reached out and took her hand, her touch warm and comforting.
"Noong nawala siya hindi ko na kinakaya. Alam mo yung pakiramdam na ang pagod ang hirap pero walang pwede gawin kundi umiyak?"
"Miro, hindi ka nag-iisa okay?."
Miro smiled, feeling a small sense of comfort.
"Thanks, Ghei."
As they sat there in comfortable silence, Miro felt a weight lift off my shoulders. Maybe, just maybe, she's wasn't alone after all. It was like a puzzle piece finally falling into place.
"Pakiramdam kaya ako nagkakaganito dahil hindi pa rin ako nakakausad." She said, the words spilling out of like admitting defeat.
Their eyes locked onto each other, filled with understanding. "What do you mean?" Ghei asked, her voice soft.
"I mean, I've been trying to convince myself na okay na ako. I've been denying my sadness and loneliness pero ang totoo kulang ako. May hindi tama kasi hindi ako buo."
Ghei nodded, a small smile playing on her lips.
"You're finally seeing it, Miro. Hindi mo naman kailangan magpanggap na malakas ka lagi. You're just a...human"
Miro felt a weight lift off my shoulders.
'I don't have to pretend that everything is okay and that I am okay.' she thought
A sense of relief washed over her, and she felt like she could finally breathe. Miro looked at Ghei, and my eyes welled up with tears.
"Thank you, Ghei," She said, her voice shaking. "Thank you for being here for me."
Ghei's face softened, and she pulled her into a hug.
"Anytime, Miro. That's what friends are for."
As they hugged, she hope that everything was going to be okay.
"I should talk to them no?" Miro asked.
"You really need to, but for now embrace yourself." Ghei smiled at her.
_
"I think it's better if we assign someone for that?" Miro suggested.
"I volunteer." Ashie raised her hand. Miro nodded.
"This event would be at the grand field, correct?" Ethaneo asked as he looks at Miro.
"Yes, based on our estimation, gym is not capable to serve as our venue." Shei explained as they all nodded.
"Aside from that, I already talked to catering and food services owner yesterday. They agreed to help us. Ethaneo would be encharge for food." Shei explained.
"Miezy Rieco is our host for the whole night event."
Miro stunned but she didn't say anything.
"How about the band and music? The technical team?"
"Cup of Joe is the only band we asked to perform and the rest would be a student performance." Shei said.
"Pres gusto mong magperform? I heard you're good at singing." Ashie said but Miro shook her head.
"I don't think I will. I have a lot of work to do." She reason out.
They nodded, understanding.
"That would be all?" Miro asked.
"For now, that's all. The next thing to do is to execute the plan. Ginawan ko na lahat ng officer ng excuse letter para sa preparation ng event natin." Shei said.
"Pres ikaw na lang ang gumawa ng mga invitation kasi hindi ko pa nagagawa e."
"Okay. You guys can leave now so I can start with my own task." Miro pushed them away.
"Kita kits!" Ethaneo waved as he walked out.
"Bye Pres!" Ashie smiled.
"Ako din?" Shei point herself as she looked at Miro.
"Of course." Miro chuckles.
"Fine" Shei sighed.
"Wait lang, bakit feeling ko masaya ka today. Bagay sayo yung ganyan. Huwag lang laging masungit bye!" Shei ramble as she walked towards the door and left.
Miro shook her head as her lips curved up.
"Am I happy?" She asked herself.
"Are you?"
Miro flinch when someone walked in.
"Kumain ka na ba?" Aliah asked her.
"Not yet, Ma'am." Miro spill out the words bitterly.
"Here, I cooked this for you." Aliah place down the lunch bag on the table.
Miro looks at the lunch bag and then lift her gaze up to Aliah.
"You don't have to you know." Miro quietly replied, her emotions seems to stir inside her.
"I just want to." Aliah push the lunch bag closer to Miro.
"Kumain ka para naman may energy ka sa mga
gagawin mo." Aliah smiled at her.
Miro seems to remember something with her words.
Flashback
Few months ago, Miro frequently visits Aliah at her house. They used to cook and eat together.
"Totoo ba yung sinabi mo na dito ka lang kumakain ng lutong bahay?" Aliah's eyes lock with Miro's.
"Yes, I don't have energy to cook for myself ." Miro shrugs off her shoulders.
"Buang, masama kaya sa katawan yung laging take out and fast food." Aliah slap her shoulder lightly.
"Okay lang yun, sanay naman ako." Miro said, careless.
"Kaya ka walang gana sa mga bagay e. Kumain ka para naman may energy ka sa mga
gagawin mo." Aliah said as she put another cup of rice on Miro's plate.
"Busog na ako!" Miro whine like a child, complaining.
"Hindi siguro masarap luto ko kaya ayaw mo na no?" Aliah pouted, Miro's eyes widened.
"Hindi ah, masarap kaya, look kakainin ko lahat." Miro immediately started to eat again as she grim at her.
Aliah laughed at her antics.
They spent their night with laughter and jokes.
"Masarap naman akong magluto kaya kainin mo yan." Aliah's voice pulled her from her thoughts.
Miro nodded as she smiled at her.
Maybe, just maybe she needs to accept that what they shared before will stay at that time and that time only.
