Cosmic Love (Nejire Hado x Reader OC)

No Hard Feelings, Right?

     Matthew woke up in an unfamiliar bed, idle chatter encompassing the room. He forced his eyes open and sat up with a groan, a familiar face turning around with a smile. 

     "Hey! He's awake!" Hado was at his bedside in an instant, shaking him by the shoulders in her excitement. "Are you okay?!  Recovery Girl said you had thrown out your shoulder pretty bad but that with some sleep you'd be fine for the tournament, but-" 

     Yukino gently laid a hand on Hado's shoulder. "Easy Hado, he's only just woken up, let's not overwhelm him." 

     Hado stopped shaking Matthew, but kept her hands on his shoulders. "Ah, sorry! Are you feeling alright? Does your shoulder hurt?" 

     He shook his head with a drowsy laugh, rolling his shoulder in an attempt to stretch it. "N-no... It's a little stiff, but it should be fine with a little stretching. I did just wake up after all. I feel fine otherwise, just pretty tired." 

     "Well that's just Recovery Girl's quirk, you'll be fine. Anyways, you were awesome out there! Going toe-to-toe with what's-her-name like that! And that massive explosion at the end!  The winds almost blew Yurei out of his seat apparently! And, and-!" Hado paused. "Sorry, I'll freak out about it later. Here, we brought you some things." Yamaoka stepped forwards with a plate of apple slices and a bottle of water, setting them on the bedside table. Matthew sat up further and shifted himself to the side of the bed, taking them with a smile and a "thank you." He looked around the room as he munched on an apple slice; the room was filled with his teammates from the event, and even a couple members of the opposing team as well.

     "So Hado," Matthew caught her attention between bites. "How long was I out for?" 

     "About an hour, the recreational games are going on right now, so we've got another hour or so before the tournament."

     "How's uh... what's her name?" 

     "Netsu?" One of the class B students chimed in. "She's been awake for around a half-hour now. You guys really went at it, I've never seen her flames turn blue like that."

     "Yeah, that was probably the most I've ever used my quirk myself." 

     Togata jumped forward and sat on the bed next to Matthew, waving his arm in front of him. "Speaking of your quirk, what was all that fire about? At the end there." 

     "Fire? Togata, you know my quirk is just explosions..." 

     Hado jumped forward as well and sat on Matthew's other side. "He's right though, when you threw that ball at the end there your whole arm got covered in fire!" She grabbed his right arm, bending and stretching it in different ways. "Maybe..." Her brow furrowed in thought for a moment, until she locked eyes with Togata.

     "Is this a new part of his quirk?!" The two shouted in excitement. 

     "C'mon you two, quirks don't just evolve om the spot like that. You really think it was something new?"

     "I mean that looked pretty new to us!" 

     Yukino stepped forwards, nodding in agreement. "Indeed, your quirk has never directly set something on fire before. Perhaps the next event will be a good chance to try it out?" 

     Matthew looked down at his palm, opening and closing his fist a couple times. "Nothing feels off or different, but I'll see if I can do anything new later. For now..." His words trailed off as he resumed eating his apple slices, letting Hado and Togata continue their speculating. I wonder if Mom and Dad were watching me out there... Do they even air this thing in America? I had never heard of it growing up, so I doubt it. Not that Mom would want to see me using my quirk anyways, she'd just say I was conjuring Hellfire with my curse... Matthew quickly stood up, wobbling on his feet for a moment. "Thank you all for checking in on me. I'm gonna just..." Hado and Togata noticed his change in tone. "Take a walk. Stretch my legs, y'know? Be seeing you guys." He exited the room with a small wave, Hado looking to Togata with concern. He flashed a smile to reassure her, and stood up with an exacerbated sigh.
